MI5 agent Cater demands a demonstration of what Asp can do, so he sends out instant death to the nearby village of Monkleigh. Still unaware of what Asp is doing with her power, Shondra nevertheless feels terrible and needs a breath of fresh air. Bruce recognises her as she steps out, but she does not recognise Sir Hemingford Gray.
