PLOT:
From his holding cell deep within Arkham, Batman recounts the events that lead him to being Jeremiah Arkham's latest patient...

Upon discovering a particularly gruesome crime scene, Batman finds that all signs point to it being the work of the serial killer Victor Zsasz. Zsasz, known for murdering his victims and leaving them propped up in life-like positions, marks each new kill by carving another mark into his flesh. Unfortunately it would seem as though Zsasz has been locked up securely within Dr. Arkham's state of the art holding cell. Finding no noticeably new scars on Zsasz's body a frustrated Batman leaves Arkham and is soon responding to yet another similar crime scene. An off-handed display of gallows humor from Lt. Kitch sends Batman into a blind rage and the Dark Knight tackles the lieutenant and appears to beat him to death precipitating his incarceration.

Robin relays the same tale to Nightwing with Commissioner Gordon's warning to stay away. Too headstrong to heed the advice, Nightwing heads to Arkham to investigate. At the same time Batman is carefully counting down the seconds until just the right time to spring himself from his shackles and attempt his escape!
