PLOT:
Using his far-seeing ability Simon is able to communicate with the beast he finds himself squaring off against. As it turns out, the two are not in a
gladiatorial combat, but the monster
himself was once a gladiator by the name of Gaius Publius.
As punishment for refusing to kill his opponent in battle, Gaius was sent to the chamber of Caligula's high sorcerer Marcellus. Marcellus in turn banished Gaius to the outer darkness. Several
decades would pass and Marcellus
would call upon Gaius but in the years since, Gaius had become warped and disfigured into the hellish creature standing before Simon. Gaius slew Marcellus and returned to the darkness, only to re-emerge to slay whomever would be foolish
enough to try and use him for their personal bidding. Eventually Gaius would be summoned by the Geo-Populus Cult. Unable to overpower their magics,
he would be taken and kept in the dark chamber along with the other monsters forced to do their bidding.
Simon transfers a portion of his power to Tom to allow him to communicate with the others and together with
Gaius and a couple other creatures, Simon and Tom ascend the steps and return to the Mansion
proper.
Before the summoning ritual can be finished, Simon, Gaius and Tom burst through the wall outside of the chamber and begin dispatching Geo-Populus members left and right. While the others do battle, Simon makes his way to the summoning chamber door, opens it and steps inside.
Inside Simon finds himself in a room of nothing but pure white light. Sitting in front of him is the spectral appearance of former Governor Dall Moss (Senator Moss's father). He tells Simon how he and a man by the name of
Gustav Farmer created Simon. Simon recognizes his father, Gustav Farmer to be none other than Gus Webb, the convenience store owner!
Simon continues to flip through a magical story book telling him how he came to be while the man in front of him reveals that the ceremony which
brought Simon actually brought in another being from the other side. Simon begins to realize that the person in front of him
may not be exactly what he claims to be. It turns out that as a consequence for being part of the duo which summoned the dark magics to create Simon, Dall Moss was overtaken by the evil spirit which crossed over at the time of Simon's birth.
That spirit, (Simon's "twin" per se) would force Moss to will his entire life's savings to the Geo-Populus cult before blowing his own brains out. That same 'twin' would then take over the body of the Mayor himself.
Now standing face to face with the very evil being which seeks to bring about the destruction of Gotham, Simon's twin offers him a choice - fulfill his dark destiny and join the Geo-Populus cult or continue fighting his losing
battle against them.
