PLOT:
Simon saves the life of a young girl who is being targeted by one of the many serial killers residing in Gotham City, Eddie the
Machete. After a brief scuffle between the two, the police arrive. Eddie pushes Simon towards the police who react
with lethal force firing nine shots at point blank range into Simon.
Back at the morgue, Beth and the Detective are inspecting Simon's corpse which appears to be
that of a young boy (around 17 or 18) who is pieced together like a patchwork quilt with various skin sections crudely sewn together. The police have not nabbed their Eddie the
Machete but Beth reveals that
they have found the person responsible for killing the cult member the other day. Before they can being filing the report they turn around to find that Simon is no longer laying on the slab. The frightened young patchwork boy-hero flees from the morgue while Beth and the Detective look on stunned.
Back at the burnt out church, Vincent the cult member is returning to the scene of the prior botched sacrifice looking for clues leading to the
interloper. He reaches into his skull and plucks out his own eyeball and places it in a hole in a nearby wall. While walking back to his
limousine he stops a homeless person,
asks him if he is scared and then puts a bullet in the man's skull for seemingly no other reason than to savor the brief glimpse of fear in the man's eye.
Rachel stops by the local Village convenience store but cannot find anyone. She follows a store patron down a back stairwell in search of the shop-keeper but instead finds a small group of people tending to the wounded Simon Dark. They ask Rachel if there is anything she can do to help but she takes off running. Along the way she attracts the attention of the bruised and battered
Eddie the Machete as he is cruising for a new victim.
Back at police headquarters the Detective is talking to someone on the phone. He says that he may have found "him" and then hangs up the phone. The detective then removes his watch to reveal some crude stitches of his own that are keeping his left hand attached to his arm.
