PLOT:
Charity O'Dare summons the Shade and Jake Bennetti to her parlor in Opal City. The cards cast a very ominous future for them all as it seems death is moving it's dark shadow across their lives... and the lives of many many more.

Flying in an airplane over the sea, Bill and Mikaal continue to bond over their unique and tragic histories. During their journey to France, Bill reveals that there may be one other survivor from amongst this tribe - a brilliant scientist from Gorilla City named Malavar. Malavar's corpse was nowhere to be found amongst the carnage left behind and Bill intends to seek him out. But someone doesn't want them reaching Paris. A group of flying robots is closing in on their tail! With no weapons arming the aircraft, the two heroes dive out of the plane and attack the androids head on. Though this causes them to lose the plane, the two agree to meet up on shore a short distance away and adjust their plans accordingly.

Back in America, Supergirl reveals that it's her own search for justice and the being known as Reactron who murdered her father that brings her to Earth. with Supergirl's status as one of the few remaining trustworthy Kryptonians verified, the growing team of "justice" seekers convene at a run-down warehouse. And it appears that they have already captured their game. Sitting strapped to a chair, Prometheus screams out in pain as the Atom trounces about in his sinuses. Hal is bent on getting this evil-doer to talk at whatever cost necessary, even if it means blurring the lines of interrogation and entering into the realm of torture. But more and more the heroes' "justice" is looking a lot like "revenge." And revenge isn't just a heroe's game.

Sealed away and forgotten for years, he was left to rot in a telepathic prison which reduced him to a near comatose state. Prometheus was finally awakened when his psychic jailer, the Martian Manhunter died. But the world he found waiting for him was one which was far from what the super-criminal had once known. In his absence an imposter had taken up his mantle and suddenly all his hard work, his dreams of becoming the super-villain Batman appeared to have crashed and burned. The usurper had ruined his name. His credibility was in shreds. The man who had once taken down the entire Justice League was now nothing more than a laughing stock!

But Prometheus would have his revenge. He sought out the imposter and took him out. Then, from his base in Europe began slowly building and strengthening his criminal empire. Motivating the criminals by fear - fear of him! Just as the Batman had struck fear into the hearts of criminals, so had he. It was easier to begin in Europe. With only a few weak and poorly trained Global Guardians for him to cut his teeth on, Prometheus had little in the way of competition. Gathering all the technology, luring the heroes into one spot, everything was going according to plan. But he didn't do it alone. Prometheus had help from I.Q. But now it appears their partnership has come to an end. Tainting Quimby's celebratory glass of wine with a chemical compound which reverts his brain activity to that of a child's, Prometheus severs all past ties and decides to move forward. Nothing, it appears, can stop the master criminal now.

If only the Justice League were to have known of his recent resurgence they might have been weary of just how easy it was to capture this foe. And their concerns would have been justified. Because the person sitting chained up and tortured in front of them isn't the actual Prometheus but rather another one of his thugs, Clayface, cloned in his image. And waiting patiently in the belly of this mud person is a ticking time bomb. By the time Hal Jordan's power ring notified him of its presence it would be too late. The bomb goes off sending a wave of fire in all directions, destroying the warehouse!

NOTE:
In this month's addendum, James Robinson discusses his affinity for all things Grant Morrison and his plans to bring the once venerated villain Prometheus back to his former glory. Also included is a two-page story called "The Origin of the Prometheus" written by Len Wein (with art by Federico Dallocchio letters by Pat Brosseau and edits by Adam Schlagman).
