PLOT:
The dust begins to settle and the blinding white light of Shazam's mighty thunder bolt begins to recede from their vision. Had it not been for the extremely quick thinking of Freddy Freeman all of the heroes would have surely perished - including Supergirl. An analysis of the shrapnel concludes that the bomb (nearly undetectable thanks to trace elements of Hal Jordan's own DNA placed inside the device) also contained a Kryptonite compound. If the Thunder bolt hadn't struck right when it had, the heroes would not be standing where they are today.
But there still remains the problem of how are they going to find Prometheus. The more they grill the group of lackeys the more it seems like the master-tactician has either blackmailed to the point of silence or simply not informed anyone as to his ultimate intent. And if Oliver Queen was only slightly un-nerved the first time he watched Ray Palmer climb up into the sinuses of their interrogation subject, his enthusiasm for the whole process has surely faded by now. He decides to take a stand and challenge Hal and Ray on what he calls torture. It isn't getting them anywhere and what's worse they're losing sight of their goal - Justice! Not petty vengeance. That's the bad guy's
shtick. Not theirs.
Like most super-hero disagreements this ultimately leads to a brawl which sees Oliver Queen utilizing one of his seldom seen trick arrows to
incapacitate both Green Lantern and the Atom. But it's Shazam who steps in and stops it all for good. Perhaps calling upon the wisdom of Solomon, the wise teen theorizes that even this rift within their ranks could be part of Prometheus's plan. His plotting has thusfar proven to be far from shallow and every punch they throw at one another could just be putting them further into Prometheus's clutches. He suggests that if they are going to continue to take on this threat they're going to need to touch base with the rest of the Justice League. That is... if they're still willing to even talk to Hal Jordan after his impromptu departure.
At this point just about everyone in the group can notice it. After this gallant display of heroicism, Supergirl can hardly take her eyes off the teenage Freddy Freeman as the two glide next to one another en route to the Justice League headquarters. But someone else is keeping an eye on the group as well. Batwoman watches from the distance as the rag-tag group of heroes departs her city.
Across the sea over in France, Bill and Mikaal have finally arrived at their friends' killers location. There they find Penny Dreadful and Arak Wind-Walker awaiting a shipment of diamonds from their boss. But the two heroes are about to find out that, much like their compatriots on the other side of the pond just realized, vengeance is not justice. And even though they have the opportunity to kill them both where they stand, they refuse.
Arak decides to talk. He confesses that Prometheus was the one who killed the majority of Bill's tribe. His raid's sole purpose was retrieving the
Gorilla City native (and super genius) Malavar. But when Penny Dreadful sees that her partner is talking she fries him with a bolt of energy before turning her sights on Bill! Mikaal steps in and kills Penny before she can hurt Bill but now they are both back to square one. Where do they go from here?
And after spending his day criss-crossing the country, from Los Angeles to Happy Harbor, Jay Garrick returns home. He's been alerting the various heroes of the imminent threat on the horizon. Little does he expect that when he arrives back at his home he'll find Shade the Changing Man waiting for him in his living room. But just as his name would suggest, the Shade is a changed man (if one could still call him a man). And he means no ill will. He only wants to talk. Something that Jay cautiously accepts.
