PLOT:
Kent learns more about the history of Dr. Fate a founding member of the Justice Society of America and mysterious sorcerer. Unhappy with the information (or lack thereof) supplied to him by Maddy on how to battle the murderous Negal and unwilling to consult the JSA, Kent leaves the book store and returns to his room at the motel. He uses the powers of Fate to quickly clean up the trash he had been neglecting and manages to keep his job. He realizes that his shabby motel room resembles a modern day version of Fate's fabled Tower with no windows and no doors.

While trying to open the door, Nelson falls through and finds himself in another plane of existence where he battles zombie members of the JSA as Dr. Fate and interacts with a black liquid he believes to be the remaning spirit of Inza. Managing to escape somehow, Dr. Nelson finds himself sitting in his darkened motel room alone. The entire sequence of events somehow seems to have happened in an inch and a half thick slab of plywood.

There is a knock at the door. It's Maddy who claims to have more information on Dr. Fate. Kent simply opens the door and thrusts the helmet at her claiming that if she wants it, she can have it. He's certainly finished with it. He slams the door and tells Maddy to leave.
