PLOT:
The Challengers find themselves back on their home world atop the Daily Planet building after boom tubing out of what is revealed to have been the reconstructed Earth-51 (the world that was initially destroyed during the Monarch battle). Once realizing they're back home, Mary, Jason, Holly and Harley all decide that they want to return to their normal lives. The rest decide to stay with Jimmy to try and figure out how to resolve the situation with the Powers of the New Gods residing within Olsen.

Donna reprimands Jason for wanting to simply "walk away" from saving the world from the Great Disaster. Angry and fed up with all of the nonsense,  Jason rips off the Red Robin mask and decides that he's finished with being a masked super-hero. Jason (dressed in civilian clothes) later re-convenes with Holly and Harley as they make their way back to Gotham City - the Red Robin suit left behind in the dumpster.

Mary Marvel struggles with her conscience over having left her fellow Challengers when she finds Darkseid waiting for her in her apartment. The scourge of the Fourth World offers Mary Marvel her powers back. Mary contends that she already has her powers back but Darkseid reminds her that she is not near as powerful as she was when she was evil. Darkseid says that this is because even still the gods do not fully trust Mary. He is willing to give her back her full capabilities if she is willing to do one final favor for him...

Watching the activities from the Multiversal Nexus, Solomon the Monitor is finding that the other monitors (whom he views as offensive aberrations) no longer speak to him. He finds that although he had contained the Morticoccus Virus to Nix Uotan's reconstructed Earth-51, the ultimate victory is still within Darkseid's grasp. While staring out over the Earth he fogs up the viewing window and writes "To Earth". He smiles - deciding that although he may have lost a few battles, continuing to be patient will win him the war.

Just outside of the Hall of Justice the Challengers are attacked by none other than Mary Marvel. Having accepted her powers from Darkseid she believes herself not to be "evil" but that her powers are what she makes of them. After a brief and vicious battle, Mary Marvel escapes with Jimmy Olsen. Olsen's powers do not activate simply because Mary Marvel does not intend to kill him. Forager vows to hunt down her newfound love unto the ends of the earth.

NOTE:
Special end of issue story entitled, "The Origin of Ra's Al Ghul"
