PLOT:
Buddy and Una make their way through the city as it is ravaged by the beast-creatures brought on by the Morticoccus virus. As they progress through the city it becomes more and more apparent that no super-hero or super-heroes would be able to save this day.

Una and Buddy make it to Buddy's daughter's apartment to find the entire complex littered with corpses. Buddy finds his grandson safe and his daughter missing. Before they can leave the apartment, Una is attacked by walking rabid rats that cover her from head to toe, ceaselessly biting her and eating her alive.

Buddy reaches the roof of his building where he finds his daughter, infected and driven insane by the virus she attacks her father. Una, still fighting with the rat creature horde tackles Buddy's daughter and tosses her flight ring to Buddy so that he can save himself. The rats devour Una as Buddy and his grandson take off into the air.

Buddy and his grandson lock themselves in Command Bunker D where Buddy uses Brother Eye to watch the world die. Eventually virtually every country on earth is wiped out in a nuclear holocaust spurned on by the paranoia over the virus. Finally Buddy tunes into the cameras at Cadmus Labs where he watches the Challengers re-group. Atom tells them all about the condition of the world outside and the heroes decide that there is nothing more than can do.

As Jimmy Olsen uses his powers to summon a boom tube, Buddy Blank knows that he'll never see the world rise from it's Nuclear hibernation. But he can't help but wonder to himself if his grandson will ever forgive him for making him the "Last Boy on Earth" (see Kamandi: The Last Boy on Earth).
