PLOT:
In honor of the Tribute Day on Earth, Clark has temporarily relieved himself of his duties on New Krypton and flown home to be with his family in Smallville and remember his late Earth father Jonathan Kent. With Lois driving down from Metropolis, the Kent family is preparing to have a nice quiet dinner at home. Little do they know that they're about to have an unexpected visitor. From beyond the grave.

Hovering like a black angel of death in the dark storm clouds as they sweep in across Smallville, Black Lantern Superman of Earth-2 has been slowly and methodically picking off the residents of Smallville. Watching with predatorial eyes as their entire bodies glow with fear before he snatches their hearts from their chests. Feeding the black power battery.

The Kent family is catching up around the dinner table, reminiscing over what it's been like for Conner to adjust to life on the farm when suddenly their Kryptonian super powered hearing picks up something nefarious. Like lightning, Superman and Superboy take off towards Smallville's cemetery. But the shock of what they find there leaves them struggling to come to terms with exactly what they're witnessing.

The re-animated corpse of Kal-L from Earth-2 has exhumed the coffin of Jonathan Kent and stands with it propped up out of the ground, taunting them with his vicious glowing red eyes. In an instant he seizes Conner and takes off into the night sky, his hand digging into Conner's chest, trying to dig through the bone and tissue to get at his beating heart. Looking back at Superman as he rockets after them, he sees Clark's entire body radiating with the light of the entire emotional spectrum. Rage, Love, Hope, Fear and Will burn through his skin as he chases after them.

When he reaches them in the stratosphere, Kal-L tosses the barely conscious Superboy across the skyscrape. Flinging him off into the distance like a piece of trash, daring Clark to either stand and fight or go after the clone that isn't even Kryptonian by nature. Torn between fear and love, Clark chooses to go after Conner retrieving him just in time to save his life. But as the two head back down to the farm house in Smallville they find the home decimated. Krypto lies nearly unconscious. Ma Kent is missing!

Following the sound of her heartbeat, the boys head back into Smallville to find the town completely quiet. Deathly quiet. Like the eerie calm of a jungle just before a storm, not a creature is stirring within the tiny little burg. Only the beating hear of their mother remains. As the storm rolls in they find Ma Kent, held hostage by none other than the re-animated Lois Lane of Earth-2. It seems Kal-L intends on re-uniting the lonely widow with her husband, even if it means bringing Pa Kent back from the dead.

Meanwhile, a great distance away on the planet of New Krypton, Supergirl is becoming increasingly concerned with the goings on at Earth. It is a difficult time to be asking to return to Earth, given the fact that her father just passed away, but she feels it is imperative for her to return. But death it seems, has instead come to her. A black lantern ring comes crashing down from above, placing itself on the finger of Zor-El. Suddenly Kara and her mother Alura find themselves staring face to face with their undead loved one once more!
