That person turns out to be Commissioner James Gordon whom Shancoe finds at a local arcade with his younger daughter Barbara. When Gordon tries to stop Shancoe the crooked cop overpowers him, holding him at knife point and threatening to kill again. Luckily a resourceful Barbara manages to get Shancoe's attention by pointing an arcade machine's toy gun at him. Convinced that the gun is real, Shancoe believes that perhaps the young girl will be the one to terminate him and thus buys Batman enough time to talk him down - reminding him that he is in fact not a 'bad' cop.

However, as prisoner 002 is returned to Arkham Asylum, Batman is shocked to find that Prisoner 001 - The Joker has escaped. Killing two Asylum guards, the Clown leaves behind a taunt written in blood across the walls of his padded cell that indicates to Batman that things between them are far from over.
