When the latest victim is bitten he begins exhibiting fire-control powers and attacks the Outsiders who attempt to corral him. His explosive birth of powers is enough to allow the meta-con men to escape and sets free the Parasite. Rex, Grace and Anissa are able to subdue the newly powered 'Kid Magma' but the parasite bursts through the roof and attempts to fly off into the night. Batman jumps onto the beast as it flies away but his utility belt (along with his tracking device) is torn from his person as he disappears into the night riding the parasite.

Working on the assumption that Batman may never return, Batgirl assumes leadership responsibilities and decides to take Kid Magma to the Looker in an attempt to find any psychic connection between the parasite and it's most recent victim. The Looker peers into Kid Magma's mind and finds a connection between him and the Parasite. She begins seeing what the Parasite is seeing and deduces that it's new lair must be an old run-down movie theater. Unfortunately she does not sense any other living creature with it - which does not bode well for the missing Dark Knight.

Back at Burnham Baking Company in Francine Langstrom's laboratory, Francine is more than happy to see that Kirk has returned safely from his sentence on the Salvation Run Prison Planet. The two check in with Salah who has set up a psyionic link between himself and the REMAC unit. While attempting to sift through the REMAC's nanites for a lead on the Jardine Space Station situation, an electrical burst shocks Salah putting him into a coma. While tending to Salah, Francine and Kirk find that Salah's consciousness is somehow now trapped within REMAC unit.
