Margo knew Elizabeth had been pregnant. She had her killed to protect her from her over-protective brother. He would have gone after the man she'd been dating (she was unmarried) and would have killed him. Penguin pointed Batman in Lupo's direction. He had set up a meeting with Fat Man and Little Boy. Batman took down Fat Man and Little Boy, then waited for Lupo to arrive. When he did, he didn't know what to do. Lupo ran, then was shot.
