I may get it someday, but even with my favorite bands, I take my time finally buying their records. Both Pearl Jam and Tool put out new records in May and I have yet to even get them (I love 'em both). I only have Benjamin's major label debut, which I've only listened through once or twice. I should play it through again one of these days and get to know the songs a little better. I'm not the type to buy a CD because of its one hit single; I like to hear at least three or four really good tracks before purchasing.

Seriously though, that's a cool album cover. I've heard "Diary of Jane" just a few times and I'm really starting to like it.

lol oh yes haha that song would make an excellent music vid hah. Topless is actually a fan fave from back when they started out, only now they decided to record it and put it on the record because the fans wanted it so bad.
the cover is so awesome, very dark and artisitic. The ascending angel was a nice touch. o btw, glad you liked the single. def. an awesome song.

after listening to it on clearchannelmusic.com and soundpedia.com
this is my opinion on phobia...
1. "Intro" (1:13)- Nothing that really stands out here. It's basically a small instrumental that leads into.... (I don't rate intro's)
2. "The Diary Of Jane" (3:19) - "As I burn another page/As I look the other way/I still try to find my place/In the diary of Jane" - It's a great song and was a good choice as the first single off of this album. It shows off a different side of Breaking Benjamin that I don't think anyone thought was possible. From beginning to end this song commands you to listen to it. This particular song has been available for almost two months now and it still is in heavy rotation everywhere, and it seems no one is completely sick of it yet. (9/10)
3. "Breath" (3:38) - "So sacrifice yourself/And let me have what's left/I know that I can find/The fire in your eyes/Going all the way/Get away" - This song... is another favorite of mine. The vocals in this song are great... the music is awesome... this is one of the best. Everything flows with this song, its not rushed in the least. Perfection stands out with this one (10/10)
4. "You" (3:22) - "Promise me you'll try/To leave it all behind/Cause I've elected hell/Lying to myself" - This is the song from "Phobia" that the world was first introduced to. It was introduced at the latest "Concert For A Couse". I heard nothing but good things about it then. And now listening to the album version. I have to agree. This is another great one. Lyrically the song is great... and the music that accompanies it... makes it sound even better. (8/10)
5. "Evil Angel" (3:39) - "I'm a believer/Nothing can be worse/All these imaginary friends/Hiding betrayal/Driving the nail/Hoping to find a Savior" I don't know what it is with this song. But, I cannot stop listening to this song. If your anything like me... you won't be able to stop listening to it either. This song has a bit of an alice in chains feel to it, which isn't anything to complain about at all. Once again we have great lyrics and amazing instrumentals (9/10)
6. "Until The End" (4:11) - "I knew this day would come to end/So let this life begin/Why give up?/Why give in?/It's not enough/It never ends/So I will go on until the end" - With a heavy intro, Breaking Ben. surprises by switching to a lighter mood and then shakes things up by going harder again. This seamless transition has made this song my favourite on the album (10/10)
7. "Dance With The Devil" (3:45) - "Here I stand/helpless and left for dead/Close your eyes/So many days go by/Easy to find what's wrong/Harder to find what's right" - This song should be the next single from "Phobia". It almost has like a "So Cold" kind of feel to it. "I won't stay long/in this world so wrong/Say goodbye/as we dance with the devil tonight" This song has so much potential to take Breaking Benjamin all the way to number one, yet again. This song is tied for first for my favourite songs on the album... trust me it won't dissapoint. (10/10)
8. "Topless" (3:00) - "Fruit on the vine/you got your/And I Got mine" - Most Breaking Benjamin fans know that when the band performs an older song for an album, the song gets somewhat of a facelift. Different lyrics and a different sound. Well, this IS NOT the case here. This song made it to "Phobia" through constant fan request on the message board on the band's official website, Shallowbay.com. If you have heard the live version of this song... you may be surprised... this is the same exact song (except for the bridge) That's not a bad thing at all. (9/10)
9. "Here We Are" (4:17) - "The beauty queen has lost her crown again" - This songs starts off on a different pace.... a slower pace than the rest of the album. It's a welcome addition. It gets harder though... which is also a welcome addition. Lyrically.... it's great....musically... its great... another perfect one-two- combo from Breaking Ben. (8/10)
10. "Unknown Soldier" (3:46) - "Show me what it's like/to dream in black and white/So I can leave this world tonight" - Heaviest song... no..... one of the deepest...yes. Unknown soldier is lyrically amazing.... and musically.... amazing. While it isn't strumming with heavy riffs and isn't neccessarily soft, unknown soldier is comfortably in between and is one of my favorite songs on phobia...(10/10)
11. "Had Enough" (3:47) - "You had to have it all/Well have you had enough?/You greedy little bastard/You'll get what you deserve" -Debated by fans to be about ex-drummer jeremy hummel.... but we'll never know for sure. I think this song is good.... again the usual Breaking Ben one-two-combo. This can easily be another permenant fix on my iPod... along with most of this album. (8/10)
12. "You Fight Me" (3:10) - "Can we live a life/Of peace and happiness/I don't think so" - At first listen I kind of was like "This is breaking benjamin?"... but after further listen... I really like this song alot. Everything from the urban kind of music to the lyrics make this song sound fantastic. I say that because this song has a kind of "I must listen to this song" feel to it, the only downside is it takes a few listens to get into. (9.5/10)
13. "Outro" (2:04) - Usual outro... Basic instrumental to end the album... or in this case to lead into the acoustic "The Diary Of Jane". I won't rate this but overall into and outro are cool ways to start and end phobia. A nifty idea that I will let the reader decide an opinion on.
14. "The Diary Of Jane" (Acoustic) (3:04) - Acoustic version... Not really. This is another new side of Breaking Ben. With the use of an arrangement of strings and a piano they make this acoustic version sound as powerfull as the normal version. Add the soothing vocals of Ben Burnley and you got one of the best acoustic songs out on the market today. The cello doesnt hurt either (10/10)
General Overview: phobia was about facing your fears and emerging triumphant. Breaking Benjamin has done that and the result is a faultless rock album from start to finish. Every song beckons the listener to play it once again, never growing old. Tradional Breaking Benjamin fans will enjoy this album and the newer fans to Breaking Benjamin will enjoy this album just as much. For anyone that owns Breaking Benjamin's first two albums, "Saturate" and "We Are Not Alone", know that this band has the habit of making you love them. You can't stop listening to their CD's years after their released. This album isn't any different. Now go out and buy this album on August 8, 2006. Hurrry up and buy because only the CD's being sold on August 8th have the acoustic "The Diary Of Jane". Breaking Benjamin really is one of the best and most unique bands in the world today.
Positives:
-Not a single track is throw away
-lyrics have improved ten fold
-instrumentals have vastly improved
-topless lol
Negatives:
-Length, weighing in at just over 46 minutes it goes by fairly quickly
-for some a negative would be a lack of harder songs (ala saturate) but this is a very small point, especially with songs like had enough and topless.
Overall "Phobia" score: 9/10
"I went around the world, searched in all the shadows. And there is something out there in the darkness, something terrifying, something that will not stop until it gets revenge... Me"

Nice review, XforeverXknightX; you're obviously very enthusiastic for Benjamin. I'll definitely download some of those "10/10" tracks and see what I think. I'm looking forward to hearing the acoustic or "strings" version of "Diary of Jane" too. The cello and violin can sound awesome if used well. By the way, you should check out "Art" by Taproot. It was really stupid when people started calling them "Art Metal," but they are a good band.
Anyway, though I haven't heard it yet, I like that Phobia has an intro and outro with similar material. Pearl Jam did that on their debut Ten, and it gives a great sense of beginning and end when you hear familiar music come back to "close the book," so to speak.
