PLOT:
Standing inside of the Mayor's office, Huntress begins to piece together Nino Angelo's nefarious plan. It would seem as though Nino had been attempting to assemble his own A Mano Iddio with himself as the Mafioso finger, Bruce Wayne as the business finger and the Mayor as the political finger. Nino had planned on using an explosive device to blow a hole in the levees of Gotham, causing a Katrina like flooding of a mostly non-white area of Gotham. The Mayor would come out of the disaster looking like a hero - which he would of course use to position himself for more National acclaim. Nino had a grip on most of the manufacturing business in Gotham and would stand to make a fortune in the re-building. Wayne was the odd-man out as he stood to make nothing it seemed.

But Nino Angelo hadn't realized that his reach had started to exceed his grasp and his grand ambitions would run afoul of the REAL Hand and it's own Mafioso finger, the Pope. Since the Pope was the person so obviously responsible for the hit on Nino, Huntress phones him to let him know that Nino's son Tony looks to be dangerously close to following out his father's plans and needs to be stopped.

The explosives couldn't be planted on the levees themselves - so they needed to be placed somewhere nearby. Appropriately enough it turned out that location was the old Bertinelli home -long since boarded up and abandoned. Helena breaks in looking for the bomb but instead finds Omerta. While the two duke it out, Tony arrives with the explosives inside of a suit case. He too joins in the fray, attacking the woman he blames for his father's death. The ruckus is called to a halt however when the Pope himself shows up.

Huntress tires to tell Tony that she didn't kill Nino but the Pope has other plans. He wants Tony for a future don - and in order for that to happen, Omerta and his employer the Pope can't be fingered for Nino's death. To make sure things go his way, the Pope has brought Sal Asaro with him as a bargaining chip. In order to save Sal, Huntress cops to Nino's murder and Pope and Tony leave. Huntress may not have actually killed Nino Angelo, but she did kill Mandragora and she intended to kill Omerta. But a life of killing is something that her brother Sal never wanted for her and he asks her to abstain from murder in the future on his behalf.

This is put to a test when on the way out, Pope orders Omerta to return to the Bertinelli house and execute all the loose ends. Batman also arrives on the scene and a stand-off ensues appropriately enough where it all began - around the Bertinelli dinner table. Helena may have agreed to Sal's condition of not murdering Omerta, but that doesn't mean she still can't exact her revenge. She defeats the gunman and cuts out his tongue before finally snatching her own rosary back from around his neck.

Leaving Omerta behind a blood mess, Helena heads to the local church where she baptizes herself anew. Gotham may be Batman's town, but the Huntress follows no rules. Bruce has figured out that the Huntress is one of the Bertinellis, but that was just her father's name. Helena is a new breed. She is the Huntress and she swears an oath to take down anyone who dares cultivate fear and injustice in her hometown.
