PLOT:
A rock fall in the Bat-Cave uncovers an alien capsule buried within. A large one-eyed creature emerges from the capsule and begins menacing Gotham City. Batman learns from a strange headpiece within the capsule that the creature was sent to Earth long ago to retrieve four special pyramids. The alien masters of the creature have also sent a weapon that can destroy the creature, called a Rukk, if necessary.
The Dynamic Duo tracks the Rukk, but a gang learns of the situation. Gang boss, Ed Bailey, decides to destroy the weapon so the Rukk will return to the Bat-Cave revealing its location. With the weapon destroyed, Batman and Robin can not stop the creature. Instead, Batman moves the capsule into a clearing so the Rukk sees it. Once it has the pyramids, the Rukk enters the capsule and returns to its home planet, which Batman believes was destroyed long ago.

John Jones is surprised by the appearance of someone disguised as the Martian Manhunter. The phony Manhunter performs several stunts in town which showcase his power. Jones, as the real Martian Manhunter, trails the phony back to the home of wealthy playboy, Dirk Giles.
On the way to the house, J’onn is momentarily weakened by a nearby fire. Some crooks witness his weakness as J’onn enter the mansion. He learns that Giles has disguised himself as J’onzz to impress his girlfriend. When the crooks show up carrying torches, J’onn has Giles trick them into thinking that the Manhunter is not weakened by fire. The two Manhunters then catch the gang.
