PLOT:
It might be hard to believe, but despite his gruff exterior, Oa's drill-sergeant Kilowog was once a rookie too. In the aftermath of the
devastating Sciencell Riots, Kilowog reflects upon his training and first taste of battle.
Earnest and very green behind the ears, the newest recruit from sector 647 would accompany his fellow cadets to Fourscore where he would begin his training under the
tutelage of Lantern Ermey. But when an emergency arises on a nearby planet, the newbies are thrust into a trial by fire situation in which they must rescue their fellow Lanterns whose rings' energy levels are almost completely depleted. With one valiant action, Kilowog becomes the hero saving the lives of countless Lanterns (including Sinestro) and earning the respect of his gruff drill-sergeant Ermey who dies in his arms after painting an honorary lantern on Kilowog's chest.
