PLOT:
Once the Birds arrive back stateside, Barbara makes arrangements for Ice to reunite with her old friend Fire over at Checkmate. Meanwhile, Barbara has also been preparing to have 'words' with Katarina Armstrong. One way or another, Spy Smasher's tenure with the Birds of Prey is just about up and as Katarina shows up at Dalten Towers to deliver some information, Oracle challenges her to a fight.

Thanks to some handicapping from Manhunter, the two women duke it out on the floor for control over the team. Barbara wins the battle but it's her friends (including Black Canary) who arrive and show their support that really makes it abundantly clear that Spy Smasher's rule will no longer be tolerated. Bitter and bested, Katarina packs it in and relinquishes control over the team.

With that taken care of, Barbara turns her attention to her recent uninvited houseguest, the extremely talented teleporter named Misfit. Using Katarina's resources, Barbara is able to track down Misfit's (real name Charlie Gage-Radcliffe) home. It turns out that Misfit's claims of a happy home life and pampered living were greatly exaggerated. In reality Charlie is an orphan who was forced to stand by and watch helplessly as a tenement fire brought on by landlord negligence took the lives of her family. Barbara's heart goes out to the young girl and she offers her a place on the team and a new family in the Birds of Prey.
