SUMMARY:
Having blackmailed Barbara Gordon in order to assume control over the Birds of Prey, Spy Smasher sends her newly aquired team of super powered secret agents
to the Soviet Union. There, a militant socialist by the name of Feodor Kerimov is
holding a fundraising gala to attract investors in his army of supersoilders decked out in Rocket Red suits which he plans on using to further his political cause. Katarina tasks the Birds with retrieving the Rocket Red suit and getting it back to America.
The only problem is that Kerimov has hired his own group of metas to watch over his party - the Secret Six! This morally ambiguous group of mercs give chase to the Birds when they attempt to make off with the Rocket Red suit and soon find themselves at a stand-off out in the middle of the Russian Wilderness. To the surprise of both parties the Rocket Red suit that the Birds snatched from Kerimov is in fact not empty but actually contains the resurrected former JLI-member Ice!
It turns out Kerimov has been using black arts which trace their origins back to the early days of the Soviet Union in order to
resurrect the Nordic ice princess. He does so in hopes of not only helping his legacy as he nears his final hours but also as an attempt to booster the morale of his countrymen by capitalizing on their primitive beliefs of ice gods and goddesses. Fearing that his Secret Six team has been defeated, he sends a squadron of Rocket Reds to remedy the situation and burn down the
neighboring village where the stand-off is taking place!
Fortunately neither team is particularly fond of the additional kidnapping charge tacked onto this caper so they agree to work together to take out the Rocket Reds. The brief confrontation between the two teams does however yield some interesting results. Big Barda and Knockout battle to a draw while a potential romance begins to bloom between Huntress and Catman!
Ice is re-awakened and the man responsible for bringing her back to life, Kerimov, is treated to a bullet to the back of the head by Deadshot. Once back Stateside, Katarina Armstrong finds that Barbara Gordon is none too please with her ex-friend riding roughshod on the team she worked so hard to build. The two women agree to settle their differences the old fashioned way but even after receiving an asswhoping from Babs, Spy Smasher still refuses to give up the reigns. Luckily Black Canary has arrived and she brings with her a whole legion of BOP operatives who would not be too happy with Katarina remaining at the helm. With that, Spy Smasher finally accepts defeat and gives Babs back the team.
With Dinah in town, Barbara takes this opportunity to try and talk her out of getting married to Oliver Queen. Although Dinah ignores Barbara's pleas to rebuke his
proposal, their friendship is actually strengthened by this talk and Dinah asks Barbara to be her maid of honor. Meanwhile outside, Knocokout is determined to challenge Big Barda to a re-match but before she can get there a shadowy stranger murders her and tosses her off the side of a building for the whole world to see!
