During the fight, Batman realizes that he is fighting a different Wrath than the one he had encountered before. When Batman asks why the Wrath has been killing cops and targeting Commissioner Gordon, the Wrath tells Batman to investigate what Gordon was doing on a particular date. Batman tries to interrogate Gordon, but gets no answer. Later, Batman tells Alfred the date the Wrath cited was the night Bruce first met Gordon, the night his parents were murdered. Elsewhere, the Wrath holds Grayle Hudson, the girlfriend of the former Wrath, hostage.
