PLOT:
A priest stabbed through the heart in the middle of his own church. A tombstone in the church's cemetery belonging to one of Gotham City's patriarchs is completely desecrated. And at the heart of it all lies a conspiracy that could very well threaten to unravel the church itself.

The grave marker belongs to one Marco Cantonni, born December 12, 1834, died June 27, 1906. Cantonni, whose descendants would later change their last name and become the Cantons, Gotham's second wealthiest family next to the Waynes, is the pinnacle of the American Dream. So why would someone want to pilfer through an abscess inside his tombstone? What were they looking for?

Working on a hunch, Dick decides to stake out the Canton's place. And lucky for him that he did. A man going by the name of Amon (the demonic embodiment of Wrath, one of the seven deadly sins) breaks into the Canton's house and attempts to abduct young Jackson Canton. Thanks to Batman he fails at his kidnapping attempt but Dick knows in his heart that this is far from over. So he decides to have Damian impersonate Jackson in an attempt to lure Amon back out of hiding.

A little time spent in the makeup chair, a false wig and a little bit of cajoling from Dick and Damian is ready go to. Like clockwork Amon strikes again. But this time Gotham City's newest Azrael, God's Weapon of Justice arrives, swords a blazing! His flaming Sword of Sin pierces that transport car's gas tank, igniting a giant explosion which allows Amon to escape with Damian! Further complicating matters is the fact that the police are still pursuing Azrael for the crimes of his predecessor (who is currently locked up somewhere in a sanitarium ward).

Frustrated, Dick seeks out Azrael's mentors in the Order of Purity to see exactly what their stake in all of this is. There he learns that Amon is a member of a cult called La Saligia that seek out the seven keys of the Shrouders of Sin in order to unlock what they call the Eight Deadly Sin - the revelation of the Great Deceit! With the entire church at stake, the Order of Purity couldn't risk Amon succeeding. But since the seventh key wasn't located inside Cantonni's tombstone, Batman and Azrael race to find the key before Amon can!

Unfortunately the situation is far worse than they expected. La Saligia has already obtained the seventh key. And Jackson (aka Damian) is not the only child they've taken either. Children from all over the world have been taken from their families and brought to a ceremonial chamber deep beneath the streets of Gotham. Batman and Azrael have only hours to uncover La Saligia's endgame and locate their secret chamber. But how do you solve a mystery that's remained unsolved for 2,000 years? There's only one person alive who could help them now....

Someone has pilfered the Gotham City blood bank and left behind a disturbing calling card - a Rorschach inkblot shaped like a bat! Harvey Bullock and crime scene tech Christopher Abrams are on the scene. But it's Barbara Gordon who gives the case it's legs.

Working as the Oracle (and with the assistance of new forensic psychologist Samuel Aerons), Babs uncovers a hidden set of Greek text written in the blood only visible by black light. Running it through a quick translation she finds that it's an excerpt from Shakespeare. "I stalk about her door / Like a Strange Soul / Upon the Stygian Banks / Searching for Light."

Even before she runs the DNA, Barbara can tell that whoever did this suffers from Porphyria, a disease whose symptoms mimic vampirism and which is ultimately linked to psychosis. But when the DNA does come back the entire squad is shocked to find it matches none other than CSU tech Christopher Abrams!

The force arrives in time to find a raving Abrams nearly mad with his blood lust. But after they haul him away in cuffs, something still bothers Barbara. The text, the Shakespeare quote, it rings of someone much more meticulous than just a simple lunatic like Abrams.

That night, Barbara Gordon lie in bed, tossing an turning. She looks up at her ceiling and gasps! There, painted in blood is another Rorschach bat!
