Batgirl investigated a bookstore fire where a new book's author, editor, and printer were killed. Every outlet for the book (publisher, warehouse, etc.) had been destroyed. Oracle learned of an advanced copy that made it to a library. When Batgirl got there, someone was already searching it out. After a brief struggle, she learned it was some sort of robot. The librarian found the book for Batgirl and realized it was a manual on the assassin robot. Batgirl went back in to hold it off while the librarian looked for the self destruct command. She found it and was knocked out before she could say it. Batgirl had to have the robot read it since she still could not read. Barbara apologized for the incident, and Batgirl later encountered Spoiler - Batman had fired her as Robin.
