Azrael got some information from Oracle on a former associate of Scratch's who could have been behind his mutant associates. Disregarding Batman's orders and wearing his old costume, Azrael went in after Professor Lade. Scratch's devils were there and they defeated him. He awakened tied up with Lade, the house on fire. He was able to get everyone out of the fire, but Lade escaped while he went in for others.
