TV Shows On DVD reported this, but until I got the Press Release from WB, I didn't post it up.

The 1977 Batman series is coming to DVD in June 26th, along with Superman.

Synopsis:
The New Adventures of Batman is an animated series produced by Filmation in 1977 featuring the adventures of the DC Comics superheroes, Batman, Robin and often Batgirl. In this series, Batman, Robin and Batgirl battle various villians in Gotham City. Complicating things however is the presence of Batmite, a other-dimensional imp who considers himself the biggest fan of Batman and insists on helping him, regardless of whether Batman wants it or not.

Episodes:
1 - The Pest
The Moonman
Trouble Identity
A Sweet Joke On Gotham City
The Bermuda Rectangle
Bite-Sized
Reading, Writing & Wronging
The Chameleon
2 - He Who Laughs Last
The Deep Freeze
Dead Ringers
Curses! Oiled Again!
Birds Of A Feather Fool Around Together
Have An Evil Day (1)
Have An Evil Day (2)
This Looks Like A Job For Bat-Mite!

DVD Features:
Audio Commentary: "Bat-Commentary" - An audio commentary from Filmation historian Michael Swanigan and Filmation founder Lou Schiemer on two of the episodes from the series.

Documentary: Dark Versus Light Filmation and the Batman - (1977 marked Batman's return to television in Filmations New Adventures of Batman. Very cool. My VHS of the old Batman cartoons got messed up a while back. I am glad that they are working to get everything Batman on DVD. Now if they would only get the '66 series...

I look forward to buying this one for my collection. I was eleven when this debuted, so I have the whole nostalgia thing going on. It was fun hearing Adam West and Burt Ward in the roles I had watched them play in reruns when I was even younger. Even though Bat-Mite was annoyingly cartoonish, I had read comic reprints from the 40's or 50's that he had appeared in, so he at least had a legitimate place in the Batman universe. I kind of have the same feeling when I see Ace the Bat-Hound on the Krypto cartoon. Preposterous yet somehow legitimate.
I believe that the animated VHS tape referred to above was the Super Powers one that was actually episodes from the previous Filmation series that had Olan Soule and Casey Kasem in the roles of Batman and Robin, which were later reprised on Super-Friends. I had that tape many years ago and would love to see those episodes on DVD. This is one of the few that Beyond has no info on, though it is listed in the animated section of this site.

According to Warner Home Video they are releasing Filmation's '77 series first because there was more demand for "The new adventures of Bat-Man" than the '68 shorts there is nothing as of yet if they will release the entire Filmation series like Aquaman. Green Lantern, Hawkman, Atom, Flash (which will probably be released as a Justice League boxset since their solo adventures were limited) Superboy, and the Teen Titans (with an absent Robin and I might add a reverse colored Kid Flash) as Warner likes to give that info at the last minute.

I am most looking forward to Superman because I too have the 1997 re-released tape with the '67 originals as I was not alive in 1977 to witness the Batman series but will buy it upon release just because it's Batman and I like every interpretaion of the character and as it is the closeest thing we've got to the campy 66 series just animated

They will release the 60's series has it gets closer to TDK. As for the others.. once there is a demand for em, they will release em to.

Well.. both. Despite what some might think. I do actually have a few contacts. I just don't blab that I have em, or try to be cool when news comes out that I knew about saying "yea, I knew about this but couldn't say anything" (ok, I just did, but I very rarley do any other time)

while it's not 100%, and it could be before TDK, if the sales for the 77 series are good, we will see it. WB only has a few more Batman products to cash in own before everything is out. The Batman Adventures, and the TV Series. Now we all know thats not out because of a despute betwen Fox and WB. I can see this getting resolved in the next few years.

Batman & Superman and two big cash cows for Warner. They will do what they can to make money off em. What will happen once all of the series are on DVD? I would look for ultimate packs. Like all of the Animated series in one big pack. But that is a guess.

The Batman Adventures, and the TV Series. Now we all know thats not out because of a despute betwen Fox and WB. I can see this getting resolved in the next few years.

It may be longer than that there is a new suit filed against 20th from someone claiming that the studio owes them money from their involvement with Batman series with the lawsuit going on and if they win you can see more suits which heavily delays release because everyone wants a piece of the profits of the resulting sales due to the fact that Batman effectively ruined everyone's career and until recently were they able to recover

example: Adam West as Mayor Adam West in Family Guy

Yea..these lawsuits nowadays.. like the Superboy suit.. We won't get the rest of the seasons of that or the filmation series until that suit is resolved.

But the one with the series is just stupid. Freak'n cut people in so the FANS can have what they want. I don't know if I would like to be the one person standing between millions of fans and the releases of the DVD sets or not.

But.. my OPINION is that within a few years.. it will get resolved.

In the case of the Batman TV series it is not even the people who were involved, it’s the descendants of the people who were involved that are bringing on the suit. Most of the people who were actually on that show have sadly passed away. West, Ward, Newmar and Kitt are the main principal actors still alive today. There are of course a few others, but not many.

The Batman TV show was unique in that it had movie star guest stars. Before the Batman TV series there were movie actors and TV actors, seldom did they crossover. However, Batman was considered so hip and the kids of these movie icons loved the show so much that many big name stars were on the show. It’s a virtually Who’s Who of Hollywood in the mid ‘60’s and a great treasure that needs to come to DVD one day.

This arrived this morning - despite the fact I (sort of) remember these, and I know it's not exactly going to be Batman TAS, I still get all excited when I get a new Batman DVD!! Superman too!! It's like each time I pick up a new Batman or Detective, it's just got a magic to it that no other comic (or in this case, DVD) has.........

As an aside, I HATE double sided DVDs. They're a pain the ****. They scratch to easy.

Yeah, I'm glad this came out.
Although it was very unexpected! Nobody knew this was going to happen, it just did! Very surprising! But I'm glad it came out.
I also hope so much that the 1966 TV series will be released (I hope you're right chris)! That will be awesome! I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
