Kate Beckinsale has reportedly joined the race to play Wonder Woman in Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator Joss Whedon's upcoming comic book movie. The British actress is in negotiations with Whedon, according to movie gossip website joblo.com. Insiders claim Whedon is "very happy" with Beckinsale and confirmed last week that production on his highly anticipated movie adaptation of the popular comic book series will begin filming in early September.
Buffy stars Sarah Michelle Gellar and Charisma Carpenter, and teen queen Lindsay Lohan have been linked to the coveted role - which was played on TV by Lynda Carter. Former hot favorite Carpenter even remarked she was putting off having a second baby in the hope of landing the dream role. She recently told a reporter, "I'd like to (have another baby) eventually, but I want Wonder Woman right now. I'm not holding my breath, but I'm crossing my fingers and toes and praying."
First off: September, YES!!!!
Second: now that we have who is in the running, how about we take a look at who will be good as Wonder Woman. Manips, reasons, and such.

I'd like to see Kate in the role, she can kick butt, shes hot, and I think she would be a great choice.

The April Fools Joke was the idea that Kate was casted as WW. What I posted from IMDB is the real news.

Charisma Carpenter definitely has the look for the role, and Joss has already stated that he'll let Charisma audition because she has "the look." Does she have the acting chops? I'm gonna say yes. I've seen her do the hero bit in Angel (you can't really count Buffy because there she was more snooty rich girl than anything else), so yeah. She would rock.
Sarah Michelle Gellar? No. Ten years ago, she might have made a great Cassandra Sandsmark or Supergirl, but Wonder Woman, imho, she is not.
Lindsey Lohan? Not so much. I see her essaying the part of Rhosyn Forrest/Thorn if they ever decide to do a Rose and Thorn movie.
And one massive NO for Kate Beckinsale.
I do fancy the thought of Katherine Heigl in the role, though.
Don't know if anyone's told you yet...I'm the bad one.

I agree. Kate is a good actress, I have no beef with her. But as WW, she can't be her. Because of the fact I saw her first in Underworld, I quickly see a goth WW. She should stay with the type of roles she's good in. WW is bigger than what she has played. Superman is the same, so is Batman.
Charisma Carpenter looks the part. No question.

I fell aslepp during Underworld because it was really boring. Kate Beckinsale has a pretty close look to Wonder Woman to me. I haven't really seen any of the other actresses in movies except for Sarah Michelle Gellar. She could probably do well in the part. Gellar's confident determined look just isn't as effective looking as Beckinsale's.

Shes good at the Goth look.. but she was good in Serendipity and Van Helsing, where she was not Goth.
And DK.. how could you fall asleep?? Underworld was great!

I think Kate could pull it off. Charisma probably could, too. Sarah certainly has the right attitude and the fighting prowess, but she's just too small; WW is supposed to be an Amazon, whereas SMG is only 5'3".
No way we could've fallen asleep for Underworld...the theater had the sound cranked so loud the rain sounded like a train wreck. |

First movie of kate i saw was serendipity, so dont see her as a goth at all
