Bat-Tank
The Batman ShadowTek: Mattel, 2007. Asst K4024, SKU# K5754

Who needs a Batmobile when you have a Bat-Tank?

(Stealh Mode)

Not since Frank Miller?s The Dark Knight Returns have we seen a tank for Batman and this one is rather nice. Like the other ShadowTek vehicles this one also ?Transforms Instantly? at the press of a button, in this case it?s Batman?s head that is sticking out of the hatch. When pressed the front ?hood? flips forward like a shovel, the front wheels speadout wider and the ?turret? pops up and missile launchers pop out on either side. Mechanically sound and tons of fun.

(Stealh Mode)

SPECS:

8 ?? long (closed) 11? long (open), 3 ?? high and 4? wide (closed) 5 14? wide (open). It comes with two red projectiles and a fixed Batman figure.

(Stealh Mode, Front/Rear)

PROS:

It?s really cool looking, but could have been just a bit better. It has soft blue fins for safety reasons, the front ?scoop? is too, but the rest is fairly durable harder plastic.

(Attack Mode)

CONS:

My main gripe is that it?s not in scale with the other The Batman figures. This is about 1/32 scale or so and about half as big as I?d like it to be. The front wheels turn and the rear wheels turn, but the middle wheels (on the outside) are not real, I?m not sure why. There are two smaller wheels in the middle on a narrow stance well inside the main wheels, they must make up for the other wheels not turning, but they look odd.

(Attack Mode)

OVERALL:

Unlike a real Tank, the gun turret does not turn. Not a big deal, but it would have been nice if it did. This is a good solid toy and a nice piece to add to any collection.

I like the design of this one...I don't know if I'll buy one or not yet, but it's pretty cool looking and the "wrong" scale is actually really useful for me.

Yeah, if your a scale nut and want them in scale with the 5.5" The Batman line, it could be a problem. However, if you want it in scale with certain model cars and what not, then it may not be a problem.

Nice review. I have yet to see any of these. It's somewhat of an outlandish design, but not quite as over the top as some of the others. I'd have to say that the Attack Mode is much better looking than Stealth. And while I don't care for the black & yellow emblem seen in Stealth Mode, the light blue dots and dashes give it a lively and high-tech appeal.

Unless I find it cheap though, I doubt I'll get buying one of these, mainly due to the somewhat outlandish style and small scale. Maybe you could start adding the MSRP or price you paid in your reviews to shed some light on that, FlaBat.

I?ll try to make a note of what the item cost next time. If I kept track of how much I?ve spent on action figures, I?d probably cry.

I should have shot it from a higher angle, but in Attack Mode the silver dots and the shape of the scoop remind me a bit of a guitar.

I agree with this one being a weird design with The
Batman in general...I find it hard to believe that any
type of original design was even incorporated into this
hunk of junk...Again just another Batman item that will
not be apart of my collection...

This toy line should have been called: The Batman Shadow Wreck...

Does the Battank look more like a pooper scooper or is it just me???embarrassed
