Temblor
The Batman EXP: Mattel, 2006. Asst J1914, SKU# J1927

The Batman TV series has recently introduced a new original character, Temblor. The name in Spanish means, a trembling, earthquake, from temblar, to shake, from Vulgar Latin *tremulāre, from Latin tremulus, shaking. So it is no surprise that Temblor uses specially made metallic gloves and creates small earthquakes. Temblor can also create powerful soundwaves by clapping. He is voiced by veteran voice actor, Jim Cummings.

He appears in the episode "Batgirl Begins Pt. 1. Pamela Isley, who later becomes Poison Ivy, secretly hires Temblor to take down businesses that disrespect nature. When Temblor later finds out that it was Pamela and Barbara Gordon (who later becomes Batgirl, he attacks them. Batman arrives on the scene and takes him down.

The Action Figure of course tries to simulate Temblor?s action with one of the oddest action features I?ve ever seen in an action figure. A knob on the figures back is wound and his arms? wait for it, ?shake? side to side. Sadly it does not translate well and he looks like he?s doing the Chicken Dance.

SPECS:

The figure stands 5 1/4 inches tall and has 6 points of articulation (head, shoulders, waist and hips). No accessories or weapons.

PROS:

It?s a new character and never been an action figure before. It?s a solid figure and will stand without any issues.

CONS:

While in the package it looked like he had unique ball joint shoulders, he does not. The arms only hang straight down with no elbow or glove articulation. The ?shaking arms? action feature is lame and even fully wound only lasts a few seconds.

The waist cut includes the trench coat, which is open and looks odd when you turn the figure and the top and bottom does not line up in front.

OVERALL:

It?s a brand new figure so there is some collectible value there. I would have dropped the action feature, put in ball joint shoulders and let the kids play shaking his arms together. I would have also not run the waist cut through the trench coat. A soft rubber coat over the waist cut would have been better. Cut joint elbows or removable gloves would have been cool too.

Still he may be a hard figure to find in some markets and being the ?first? is always worth getting.

Good review. Cool looking figure, perfect for some sort of henchman that a villian has hired to add extra muscle against Gotham's Guardians. Just wish they didn't include that lame "Shaking" action feature, otherwise, it would of been even cooler in my opinion.

I just found one of these last night. I really don't expect anything great out of these The Batman figures anymore in terms of articulation or action features. I just get them for the fact that they had a decent looking figure made of them. It's nice to see Mattel try some new features here and there; it's just too bad they end up crappy.
