How crazy is that? I've only ever seen half an episode of this show. The acting was only okay, that's pretty much all I remember. Anyone else ever watch it?

Huh, this section must've been one of the "lost" during the last shuffle. Yeah, I saw all but one or two episodes. I thought the show was pretty decent - the early episodes were showing the strain of all the restrictions WB put on them, but toward the end I thought it really started finding itself. By then it was too late, unfortunately.
I'm still hoping to see it as a DVD set some day, but knowing how WB is with DVDs I won't be holding my breath... |

I saw the show. It was okay but it left you just wanting Batman!! There were brief glimpses of Batgirl in her traditional costume and those were the highlights of the show.
I never felt any real attachment to Helena Kyle (she was hot but that was about it). I just kept thinking, why don't they do a Batman show? At the time, it seemed like a rushed attempt to capitalize on the success of "Smallville." |

True that. I would really like to see another Batman show, maybe have a rubber suit colored like the comics. I think it could work, it seems like almost any Batman show has been a success, and how cool would it be for a normal viewer to be channel surfing and find a new life action Batman series on television.

A new live-action Batman show could very easily be done. It's not likely to happen though. "On-Star" created a convincing Batman just for commercials so a full show is possible. Good thing with Batman is that he's human and a lot of money wouldn't be thrown into visual effects. The big effects shots would be of Gotham.
How about a live-action "Nightwing" show? I hear Chris O'Donnell is available these days. j/k |

A Nightwing show would be cool, but like you said about Birds Of Prey, it'll just leave you wanting Batman (at least for me it would).

There was a gal, er, guy on here that talked Birds of Prey constantly. He was kicked off though, li'l trouble maker...
You usually hear bad stuff about it, but I'd still like to see an episode and get an idea of what it was really like.

I really liked the show. Some of the episodes were pretty goofy, but there were some fun ones. I would like to see the complete series come to DVD, like Flash. The big problem with the show was the convoluted backstory. I picked up on it pretty fast because of a good background in comics, but the show mixed stuff from pre and post Crisis.
Here is the backstory in a nutshell: Batman and Catwoman had a girl, Helena, she has cat-emulating powers (and a nifty wierd eyes special effects). She becomes the Huntress after her mother dies and her father disappears. Barbara Gordon was Batgirl until the Joker paralyzed her, now she is the computer genius Oracle. They are eventually joined by a teenage runaway named Dinah, who has a sonic scream power. Pulling the group together is Alfred, the former butler of Bruce Wayne.
Pretty big nutshell. I figure that this complexity made the show flop because you had to have this figured out by the end of the first episode.

It was a pretty convoluted storyline for the average TV viewer. Bruce Wayne was apparently off somewhere and there was a phone conversation between he and Alfred at the end of the finale that basically stated that Bruce had left Alfred in charge of looking after Helena. |

First off...I do not want another Batman show. Batman works in movies, but I don't a think a TV show is the right way to go. So much work went into Begins; into making it the perfect blend of everything, that it took six years just to get going. In TV shows, things have to be done fast so things get rushed and compromised. The problem with the movies is that directors like to go their own direction with it (Burton and Schumacher) and forget about what the character really means. This can lead to a few sucky movies. However, with TV shows this happens to Superman every single week. I don't think I could stand watching it happen to Batman again and especially not with such alarming regularity. Honest superhero shows are a thing of the past. Superboy and the Flash were the last of a dying breed. After that, all we get is soap operas (Lois and Clark, although that was quite good) and teen dramas (Smallville does have its moments, but at its core, it's not Superman enough for me).
I also never want to see a live action Batman wear a grey costume ever again.

I thought that Lois and Clark showed that you can do a major superhero in a weekly TV series, but it also showed that you can't do it for too long. By the end of season two or so they were out of ideas. Anyone else remember the H. G. Wells episodes. The early seasons were great because it was really close to the early post-Crisis Superman stories.
That is why it is best for Superman and Batman to be on the big screen. They can take time and research the comics to find the good stories instead of having to come up with weird takes every week. I tell all the people who enjoyed Batman Begins or Spider-man that it is great when the movie makers actually look at the source material.
I am perfectly content to wait a few years for the next live action installment of Batman. We have plenty of comics to tide us over until then.

I'm actually surprised Superman has seen so much TV time and Batman so little. Batman just translates better to TV. Minimal visual effects and a much larger rogues gallery. In the right hands, Batman could be the coolest thing on TV. If a CSI approach was taken with the insanity of the villains of Gotham. You gotta admit, it would be brilliant!
And as far as Batman in gray, check out "Batman: Dead End." |

True. I wouldn't even care if it didn't have much action in it, kind of like a drama.

I would like to see a Gotham PD CSI type show. Batman would not have to appear, but he could be talked about. Maybe we see him from the shadows.

It is a bit surprising a Batman TV series was never attempted. I suppose it would be pretty sad to see the show in its final season, with terrible stories and low ratings. Then again we basically already endured that with the film franchise. I kind of agree that the movies are where the character belongs, given he's in the right hands.
A GCDP cop show could be perfect right now. Those CSI's and Law and Order are so popular, and mystery of Batman would bring such an awsome element into it.

when did u kick him off and wat did he do to be a lil trouble maker While ago. He dropped an F-bomb on FlaBat. He was allowed back on, just isn't here now. The kid sure loves Birds of Prey though.
