Looks like we did need to restart this thread after the wipe out.
Anyone get the new Ultimate Warrior DVD set? I wasn't planning on it, but it does look really interesting from the promos, and I haven't really seen much of his old matches at all. I know I want Bret Hart's DVD, especially since he was involved in it's production. After all, he's the best there... well, you know.
A lot of stuff is really bugging me lately with wrestling and I can't blame anyone for "falling out" of it. The Face/Heel concept is way too clear cut at times (with the exception of newly Face, yet still dirty player Ric Flair).
And the video skit of JR's surgury was AWFUL. It was filled with terrible Vince-style jokes and took forever to get over with. A scary thing is that it reminded me so much of the crap that went down during the Attitude era. I could've been watching a quality match instead of that garbage.
The actual matches on the other hand, are often entertaining and what keep me tuning in. Guy's like HBK, Benoit and Sheldon Benjamin are barely ever disappointing, although now I don't get to see Beniot since the draft. The backstage antics and awful skits are what's really taking a toll on me, not sure how much I can take...
I'm always happy to see wrestling legends take part in the show, like Superfly's aerial attack on Homecoming. Hulk Hogan's one of the all time greatest, but I have a feeling due to his aging state, they're simply trying to squeeze out every "dream match" they can out of him, without much more reason. I have no idea why else they would have him challenge Steve Austin like he did, but I suppose it'll draw a good crowd regardless. Here's hoping for better wrestling days ahead (and possibly a Brock Lesnar comeback).

woohoo! the return of the big bad wrestling thread! thanks caleson, i forgot about it after the whipe out.
batboy, please dont post back to back, espeically not 4 posts back to back. in the future just use the edit feature anytime u wanna add more comments. since ur comment were pretty short i just grouped them all into ur original post. thanks for understanding.
anyhoo, yeah i defintiely recommend u get the warrior dvd cale, its pretty kool and insightful. altho it looks liek its just a bash-fest, its actually closer to the middle than u might think. and as there are always two sides to the story, not everything claimed on the disc should be taken as truth, but most of it pretty much is. its a good dvd and the matches are great to have. ah the good old days when i was lil itty bitty bigdaddy and cheered for the warrior liek theres no tmw lol.
as for the current crap we're exposed to more often than not, i agree that the matches themselves are still worth while. but the writing has gotten quite awful and vince and his family have really been making mistakes left and right lately. if they keep it up theyre bound to lose their audience to the up and coming TNA guys. by the way if anyone has checked them out, whats ur opinion on them?
things can only get so bad before they start getting better so hopefully wrestling will take a turn and have an upswing sometime soon, altho it might be soon enough.
anybody see the ppv last night? whatcha think?

I didn't catch the Pay Per View, but some of the matches sounded cool. I'm not a regular PPV buyer, I've only gotten New Year's Revolution and Wrestlemania XXI, which my brother actuall suggested, then kinda regretted it 'cause they're so expensive.
I'll consider picking up that Ultimate Warrior set. He was such a wild guy and the promo made it seem really interesting. I remember his return in WCW where he was like this insane phantom, making Hogan quiver with fear. God I hated that.
Apparently the new Bret Hart DVD set (coming out three days before my Birthday) was going to be called "Screwed" until Bret came in and made sure it would be a suitable release. It won't feature the controversial Survivor Series '97 match either. I guess he just wanted to refrain from that and focus more on the highlights of his career and the very best matches. I can't wait to see his Submission Match with Steve Austin. I've heard so much about it and have only seen little snips.

I'm gonna get the Ultimate Warrior DVD for my sister for Christmas. She's still into wrestling, and she loves the Warrior. When we were kids she had a huge crush on him. She used to say, "He has the ultimate body!"  I'll be interested to see it too. Evne though I have almost no interest in current wrestling, I still really like all the older stuff, mainly from when I was a kid back in the '80s. I wish I could afford the upcoming Wrestlemania box set. So many moments there I woudl remember seeing as a kid.

Cale, yeah im really looking forward to the bret hart dvd and will be picking it up the very first day. i heard theres also a magazine coming out the same day as well, definitely worth lookin into. i hear ya about the ppvs being pricey and with how disappointing they tend to be as of late, i dont blame ya for not buying them all. ur plan is a good one tho, if theres one ppv to buy, make it wrestlemania if i wasnt a dope and had more self control, then maybe i wouldnt be wasting my money
DF, got good news for ya. i too am not at all thrilled with the incredibly high price for the WM box set. but theyve also got sets too. i think its broken down into 4 volumes or so, for example the first volume is wm's 1-5, the second set is 6-10 and so on. for me i wanna get the set with 1-5 since i dont own them even on video. so basically u can grab the volumes with the ones u actually want to see, and skip the others hope that helps.

I was reading about the big Wrestlmania box set on Amazon last night. I guess they blurred out the scratchy WWF logo everywhere and for a lot of older Wrestlemanias from the '80s they changed some theme musics and edited over commentaters so they'd say "WW_." That's just rediculous that they'd have to do that to all their history. You'd think Vince would reserve the rights to at least keep that old stuff. I've been looking on eBay for a cheap Wrestlemania IXI set. A lot of those matches sounded exciting, and seeing Brock botch a Shooting Star seems cool. I think I'd like to get Wrestlemania III eventually also. Lotta all time classics on that one.

Cool, I really only care about the first 8 or so anyway. That oughta be a lot more affordable!
For those interested in the massive box set though, deepdiscountdvd.com has the best price I've seen. Almost 50% off!

I was pretty shocked to hear about that, too. He was one of the few of the current crop of wrestlers that I actually like. My nephew loved the guy; he'll be really sad to hear about it.

Holy crap. That really took some wind outta my sails. I'm so angry I don't get UPN, I haven't been able to see Eddie's in-ring action for the past few years. I thought he was one the better wrestlers of the current breed too. His feuds with Dean Malenko and Rey Mysterio were great.
Has his cause of death been released? The drugs issue always comes to mind, but that just doesn't seem likely, unless of course he was on pain pills and we had another Davey Boy Smith-type tragedy. It'd be nice to see a tribute match including Chavo, if only he'd quite that idiotic yuppy gimmick.

Just finished watching RAW. They did a cross brand show, which was nice because I hardly get to see guys like Rey Mysterio. It's funny, just a few days ago I was thinking to myself "Damn. I wish Eddie Guerrero would get over to RAW soon, he's been on Smackdown! for years." Maybe they'll put out a Best of Eddie Guerrero DVD. I'd like to see that street fight he had with Cena, and his ECW days.
Not bad for matches tonight. Shawn Michaels Vs. Rey Mysterio Jr. was pretty cool, nice finish. I thought Flair and Regal could've had a much longer match, they've got some nice mat skills. A thing that bugs me with Flair though is that he can't seem to do any suplexs anymore. No scoop slams, vertical suplex, nothing. All he is anymore is brawling and submissions. Cena and Orton probably could've gone a little longer too.
I liked the segments with wrestlers talking about Eddie. I always have a thing in the back of my mind about how glorified someone becomes at their death, that some people may just fake their sadness. You could really feel that wasn't the case here though, it was really humbling seeing Benoit's segment. I was just hoping to see Dean Malenko too. The video with Johnny Cash's cover of "Hurt" was really well done, actually got me a bit teary. I honestly couldn't say much for Owen Hart after his death, I barely saw any of his matches. But I've been watching Eddie since 1997, and although I won't say he was my favorite wrestler, I definitely put him up there with today's best performers. Now I bet he's busy lying, cheating and stealing his way into Heaven's gates. :shy:

Bret Hart did an interview with IGN about the new DVD set. CLICK HERE to read it. Bret may not be the most modest guy when it comes to talking about his in-ring skills, but I always love to read any of his interviews.
I found the new DVD at my local Wal Mart for a low $21. I snatched it up, then felt stupid when at the checkout I realized I was too low on cash from my Comic World stop. And I couldn't find that Bret Hart magazine anywhere in Wal Mart either.
I noticed there's a lot of bad happenings for WWE lately. The World Heavyweight Champion injures his back in Indianapolis, Eddie Guerrero passes away, Christian signs to TNA, and Eugene gets suspended after some dirty deeds in the UK. And I might honestly be forgetting something...
It's crazy to think, but TNA may very well be slowly rising up to WWE-level status. People keep saying how poor a quality WWE is lately and how they're tuning in to TNA more. I personally haven't caught TNA yet. I thought it was supposed to switch to Saturday nights on Spike, but so far I haven't seen it on.

My sister loves TNA. I've been recording it for her and burning it to DVDs so she can watch it, but I haven't watched any of it myself. She says it's better than WWF, but she still watches both.
