Last night, I was watching Late Night with Conan O'Brien (the best Late Night show around) and was surprised to see Rick Moranis singing a country song. The style was reminiscent of Johnny Cash but with a humous lyric style. Turns out, he has his own band and has a song nominated for a Grammy this year for "Best Comedy Album." The music was honestly pretty good, though, and not simply a joke. You can check it out the album on Amazon HERE

The song played on Conan was "Press Pound" which included slow, lonesome lyrics like:
Press 1 if you re-married
Press 2 if you?re gay
Press 3 if you?re dating
That prick from L.A.
Press 5 if you?re screening
Press 6 if you?re dead
Press pound if you love me
Or hang up instead

Anybody hear any of his songs, and if so, what did you think?

I didn't know that. That's funny because they were playing "Honey, I Shrunk The Kids!" this mourning.

I prefer Craig Ferguson, Conan gets a bit repetitive after you've seen his act a few times. Of course Ferguson has sort an adult sense of humour, so it's not for everybody.

I had read somewhere that he got into singing, but I've never heard any of it. Sounds interesting, though - I'll try to check it out.

Yeah, I'm not really a fan of Country and I thought Moranis' song was pretty cool - especially with the funny lyrics and nice guitar work (of his band mates).

I get what you mean. Conan tends to repeat a lot of sketches (the canoe down a mountain, the "tastic" guy, etc.), but I still like him the best. And he's got the highest ratings of the time slot, if that means anything. Smile Ferguson makes a lot of references to drinking and drugs ( and his time in rehab ), but he can be pretty funny, too. I usually flip back and forth between the two shows.
