Batman: Year 100
"What would Batman be like if he wasn't created in 1939, but in the year 2039? How different would things be if America was a police state instead of the land of the free? In Batman: Year 100, a four-part 200 page miniseries set to debut late this year or early next, Paul Pope said those are just a few of the questions that will be answered. Pope described the story as an "American response to V for Vendetta."

This is sort of old news, but I thought I'd post it. This sounds pretty awesome.

Sounds pretty intesting. Chances are I'll pick it up. In fact, I'm sure.

It sounds like a cool idea. It reminds me of Spider-man 2099, but it wasn't exactly like this. I wonder if anyone remembers those storys....

Cool, I suppose. I can't understand why there'd be a need for a Batman in a police state America, though. Unless Gotham is the one state where everything went wrong, an absolute hellhole where all the criminals go and there is nothing but crime and corruption.

not sure if ill check this out. from the premise it sounds like an elseworld, which by no means is to say it wont be good or even worth checking out. but personally it tends to slide down the totem poll when its an out there story. but then this one in particualr seems interesting, with the obvious question of how the hell does batman even stick around all that time lol. as it gets closer to relase ill see how i feel. i might at least get the first issue to just check it out.

I'll check it out on the strength of Paul Paope's previous work. I've only read a few things he's done, but all have been excellent. He's also done one of my favorite Elseworlds, "The Bat-Man of Krakow." It was in an all-elseworlds issue of Batman Chronicles a few years back. He's a reliable creator, so I'll buy this based on that.
