I know that there has been many versions of the Joker's origin and everytime we end up with more Questions than anwers. Should DC just leave it as is or should they do was Marvel did with Wovlerine? |

if you mean reveal his origin, then no, i dont think so, because its such a mysterey for years and years so why should they ruien it now? They should just have fans think what they want to think.

Good question!
I've gotta say, the current story arc of Batman Confidential is very very strong. It's only halfway through but so far, so good. I'm not sure it'll leave us with more answers or questions but it's shaping up really well (especially given the lack-lustre 1st six issues).

First welcome!
second, the idea of the Jokers origin is that the Joker is SO insain that even he himself doesnt remember his past, excpet for the very few wide facts. there has been three thoughts (stories) that have told his past.
1. the failed comic who turns to the life of crime as the red hood and falls into the acid (brief summary)
2. the "Jake Napier" origin which was only used for the first Batman movie, that one has little to no relation to the comics.
3. the one currently going on now in Batman Confidential like real-dark-knight said its only half way through, the next issue that comes out next is where he "falls" into the acid.
so basically its up to you to decide how you wanna think of his origin as, cuz i doubt DC will ever relase the REAL down to the last detail joker story.
Alfred- Why do we fall Sir?.........So we can
learn to pick ourselves up.
Bruce- You still havent givin up on me.
Alfred- Nevah! |

Well, it looks like my Joker theory once again is to the left field of what's commonly accepted.
I always thought Joker knew his origin, he just tells people otherwise to give himself an air of mystery and screw with people's heads.
Never start with the head; the victim gets all fuzzy!

The Countdown origin that was in an issue a couple of weeks ago pretty much listed out the 3 things someone mentioned above. It seems like the writers don't really want to put any kind of definite answer to his origin.
I was a little surprised that the Jack Napier (which I think was also in Mask of the Phantasm, but that is just my opinion) was included, but Batman 89 had a lot of popularity, and there seem to be a lot of non comic readers who think that that is the definitive origin.
