Here is a quick note:
These 2-packs are now on the shelf at Target!!!

For the figures in the Batman 2 Packs "Joker's Last Laugh" and "The Riddler's Rampage."

The Batman is 1 5/16 inches tall (from the top of base to head). That makes him just a tad under 1/48 scale. In actual 1/48 he would be 5' 7 or 8." A tad short for Batman, but passable on on an O-Guage train layout or in a Batcave diaroma (as long as he is a bit elevated from the Corgi cars themselves). In 1/64 scale that would be 7 feet tall.
Side-by-side, he is to short for a real 1/43 car, but most of the Corgi cars are actually smaller than actual 1/43 scale. Thus, he might work for some of them actually.
Assuming Batman is 6'2" (as is reported in several of the "source" books), that makes this figure roughly 1/56 scale.

The base makes it 1 7/16".

Ironically, that makes him about ideal height for the Ertl 89 Batmobile.

In addition: the body of the Batmobile is PLASTIC!!!!!sad
Looks cool though!:p

Sum Nox!

Although I prefer the darker colors used on the Mystery Car Batmobile, I'm strongly considering getting one of these sets to customize the Batmobile. Photos of both sets are available here.

I didn't know one of those mystery cars was a Batmobile. Is it the same as the animated version in the two-packs? I saw a few of those mystery cars at Wal-Mart, and some prick had gone through and tore the back of the package open to see which cars they were. :| I hate when people do crap like that.

I feel your pain, DRUNKEN FIST. Last year when the mystery cars came out, some A#@H@#$ did the same thing. where I live K-mart and Wal-Mart are about a block apart. I saw him at K-mart first, then did not find anythinh there. So I went to Wal-mart and man he was on the roll again. Just ripping all the mystery packages. sad I was so upset!

The Mystery Car version is essentially the same as the two-pack version, but the stripes are a darker blue, the clear blue is darker, and the hood scoop is usually painted better. I've snagged two of them, one to keep as-is and one to customize.

It's sad to hear about jerks like that...it gives all of us who collect Hot Wheels a bad name. Fortunately, they seem to be in the minority. I've only seen one or two opened Mystery Cars, and they were actually both done quite discreetly. If you weren't really paying attention, you might not have even noticed. I don't care for blind packaging, but I still won't resort to destroying stuff so that others can't buy it either.

If you want to get one of the Mystery Batmobiles without buying every one you see or being a jerk and opening them before you buy, there is a "cheat" to help your odds. The Batmobile is one of the few cars that come wrapped in a baggie: if you shake the card and it doesn't rattle, that means it's a bagged car. It won't guarantee that you'll get one, but using this method, I only spent $5 to get my two.

The Mystery Car Batmobile has stripes that are more of a medium blue than the two different Two Packs. One of the Two Packs, The Joker?s Last Laugh has light blue stripes (than the Mystery Car), the other Two Pack, The Riddler?s Rampage has not only darker blue stripes (than the Mystery Car), but they also have a metal flake look to them too.

In addition the ?hood scoop? is all chrome on the Mystery Car, but painted black on both of the Two Car sets.

I saw a few ripped opened Mystery Car boxes too. It stinks, but the secondary market creates some nasty things some times. I?ve seen other Hot Wheels Batman sets have a hole in the box and had the exclusive Batmobile removed, only to see it pop up on eBay.

Strange, both of mine have a black scoop. All of the two-pack cars I've seen have had black on the scoop, but more of a black patch than a proper paint application. Maybe just a bad batch that made it up here, or maybe the blister caused damage...but regardless, all of the scoops on all of the cars I've seen have been black. Maybe you got either a variation or error car?

That's funny, I didn't know that. I might give it a try if I can actually find any that haven't been violated. I'm not a big Hot wheels collector, but I do pick up a few of the cooler ones I see from time to time. And I have gotten quite a few of the Mattel Batmobiles the past couple of years, so I kinda want this one. I don't like those two-packs, though.

Well here?s my Mystery Car Batmobile?.

? as you can see the ?hood scoop / engine part? in the middle of the hood is all chrome. The other two in the Two Packs have it painted black.

Who else has Mystery Cars that have the all all chrome ?hood scoop / engine part? and not painted black?

Interesting. Yes, it's definitely a chrome scoop. But this is what both of my cars look like:

Was your Mystery car bagged inside the black blister, or was it loose like a regular Hot Wheels car? I'm wondering if the black scoop comes in the baggie, and the chrome scoop comes non-bagged.

Well I stopped at Target tonight and there were a bunch of Mystery Cars hanging on the pegs. So I used Spencer?s tip and shook them to see which had a Batmobile, and sure enough it works.

So when I open the Batmobile it has the ?hood scoop? with the same black painted square as the ones in the two packs.

Both my Batmobiles were bagged, but I notice that the black plastic looks a little deeper, richer, blacker on the ?chrome hood? version than the other one and I?m not sure why.

So was the first Mystery Batmobile I got a fluke/accident, running change or variant?

According to http://www.southtexasdiecast.com, it's a variant (I don't know why it took me so long to check with these guys, they always know what's going on). They don't have values for any of them yet, so there's no telling whether the chrome variant is more valuable or not.

I noticed that with our pictures...the black plastic in my photo looks really fake, while it looks pretty good in your photo. Maybe it's like the paint apps on the 2-pack cars I've seen around here: just a production error.

Well it works and I did get one Batmobile that way, but it also does not work as I got a SIDE DRAFT that was in a bag on a Mystery Card.

Yeah, hence my disclaimer at the end. It's not 100%, but it does help tip the odds more in your favor.

Yeah, I bought these 2 Two-Pack cars at Target the other night while searching for the '66 Batmobile ( haven't find that one yet! ). I kinda like the villian cars because they are sort-of "cartoony" but was sad they make you buy 2 of the same Batmobile....it is a very nice car though!
