I have 20 DCD Figures.. Hush W1&2, Silver Age, and First Appearance.. of those, 3 are broke, Penguins Feet broke off, Nightwing's leg, and Herleys arm.. none will stand without the stands..

I'm putting most of them away and sticking with Mattel, Maybe I'm the only one with problems.. but it sure does tick me off!

How did these breakages occur? I admit, I've been pretty fed up with the stuck joints, but the majority of them are fixable. Other than that, I have had figures continuously lean forward or backward, gradually loosening their knee joints (1st Appearance Robin).

Funny you should mention breakage. I was just going through my figures last night and found that my Man-Bat's arm broke off at the shoulder joint.

Mine really have a tendancy to get loose knees. Anybody have a good solution to that?

It really is annoying that they won't stand without the stands, but I think that I have just accepted that that is the way it is. I wish that I didn't have to accept it. I would really prefer them to stand on their own, but I think is it especially impossible with female figures for long times at least.

I really like using the sidewalks that came with the Dark Knight Returns, Batman Rogues Gallery, and Long Halloween figures since they aren't just a logo and will connect together.

Yeah they just don't seem to be balanced as well as Mattel's, but I have really started to hate the uncertainty that comes with mass market figures. I haven't missed out on any of the ones that were domestically released, but you never know. Guess I am getting lazy.

If I'm paying 12-17 bucks for a figure, I want it to last. Granted with Mattel, we may nver see half of the figures they actually release, but I'll take my chances.

The only figure I've had any joint issues with is the newest Scarecrow with flimsy ankles. Harley and Nightwing are still doing fine, and they were out of their packages as soon as I got them. I don't have the other problem figures mentioned, though.

I don't think I use any of the stands, so that may make a difference (I'm not stressing the leg joints getting them plugged in). Harley & Ivy are the only ones that won't stand up on their own, so I have them leaning against other figures. Then again, most of my "hero" figures are in the Muppet backstage set, so if they are leaning on something I can't really tell.

Just be glad you're not a McFarlane collector - they use only the most brittle plastics available for all weight-bearing joints.

Women are the WORST! LOL.. I meant toys.. though real ones can be.. huh, anyway...

I guess the woman are to top heavy? I mean, if you were a super hero, and looked like a super model.. HOw? Think of all the bruises!

I don't like the stands either.. they take up to much room.. and to be honest, I have no idea how any of em got broke. Unless they fell, which they do becuase they won't stand!

this was and still is my biggest gripe with DC Direct. For the price we have to pay for these things, the quality should be alot better. I have skipped alot of the Batman waves from them due to this reason. Now i have picked up the Long Halloween figs and so far so good. I also got 3 of the Secret Isentity figs and Batman wont stand where his bottom leg part is crooked and Batgirl is already starting to lean.

Of my older Dc Direct figs, the silver age penguin and Batgirl have broken, and a couple of the Yamato figs i have to tilt back on their heels because they lean forward to the point where the feet are now permanetly bent.

People yammer on about the Batman: Hush figure being one of the best Batman figures ever. Fine, it's got a nice sculpt, that's all well and good, but this is an action figure! The word 'action' suggests that it's going to have to put up with a bit of stress! Did mine? Nah! Both knee joints are loose, naturally it doesn't stand up on its own and it's the flimsiest cape imaginable that is one step away from tearing.

The only DC Direct figure I have (right now) is the Hush Batman. He's great for me, I haven't put him through much play at all though. I don't really play around with any of my figures actually.

The DCD figures aren't for play, but they still shouldn't fall apart...

Yeah, for "Collector Action Figures", as many DCD packages call them, they really should be more sturdy, also considering their price. But the only time I've come close to breaking a limb ( more like tearing a limb ) was with my Dark Knight Returns Joker's little sidekick doll. One of the most common problems I've found with DCD figures is their tendency to have poorly attached/inserted limbs. Usually you have to tug on them relatively hard to get them out enough and be able to turn. Joker's li'l guy's leg is ruined and nearly twisted off completely, because I didn't give him the tug treatment first.

For the bending knees syndrome that my 1st Apearance Robin has, I suppose the best treament would be to apply some sticky tac behind his knee, or for a more permaneant result, use hot glue. His head fell off also, but it pops right back in.

What's equally annoying is figures that fall over while planted on their display base. I've come to accept their dependency on bases, but falling over while using them is downright pathetic. I might as well glue or drill my Hush Poison Ivy's base into the desktop it sits on.

The solution for loose joints is super glue, drip a little glue into a loose joint and work the joint till it dries so the joint does not harden. The glue in the joint usually gives enough friction to sieze/tighten it back up to help the figure stand or pose again!
I have read this someplace else a while ago, so if you wrote it Im not taking credit, I just have bad memory or crappy bookmarks...

Well I have a few DC Direct figures. Superman/Batman Batman, Hush Batman, Contemporary Teen Titans Robin and First Appearance Batman and Robin figures are all on their stands and all standing upright in the front of the shelf for the most part and have been for a while.

Justice League (Alex Ross) Batman stands on his stand on my Monitor and it leans forward slightly, but then again so does that part of the Monitor, but even that does not make him lean over and fall unless there?s a hard bump to the Monitor.

Zatanna (the first one) still stands on her stand, but she almost no articulation, so she?s somewhat fixed.

Contemporary Teen Titans Deathstroke stands well too. His peg got lost, but I still have him on the stand.

Most of the time the figures never fall. I don?t think I have any that have ever broke at a joint, even with some of the MacFarlane figures I have, maybe I?m just lucky.

Now DCD?s Crisis On Infinite Earths Earth 2 Robin is another story, it leans backward even with the stand. Its stand is too narrow compared to most others. I have Robin lean forward a bit and have an arm stretched out to touch another figure (Zatanna?s back) to keep him upright. Otherwise he fell over backward all the time.

The worst recent figure to stand up, besides most female figures is Mattel?s Scarecrow from the new DC SuperHeroes line. It?s way too articulated, which in this case is a bad thing for display. He stands with his Sickle tucked up behind the lip of the top of the shelf so he won?t fall forward.

Does anybody have Ban Dai?s Action Sound Robin? I pulled a hand off that figure just trying to get him out of the package tray. The hands pop off way too easy and I would think that would be a safety hazard.

Most of the figures that seem to fall are Mattel?s Justice League and JLU figures. The ankles are too thin and the feet not big enough, so Batman and Superman fall over most of the time.

Marvel Legends seem to have issues too. Although all 3 of my Punishers stand with rifles and bazookas poised, I have Captain America and Daredevil that are a little floppy, but Daredevil does stand with the stand. Ghost Riders are a pain to get posed on their cycles just right and will fall with a slight bump.

Hasbro?s Sigma Six GI Joe Duke seems to hold a decent action pose for long periods of time. He also has a fair amount of accessories that mix and match to make other things. They are priced at DCD Price Point and are mass-produced but offer better value.

Overall with my DC Direct figures I find that the most of them, the joints are tight when I open them and stay firm when on display.
