That's awsome!!!! I want!!!! It will probably be impossible to find. That looks alot better than the dc direct first appearance Batgirl.
Is there any difference between Cassie's Batgirl costume, and Helena's costume, for the brief time she was Batgirl?

Generally speaking the DC Direct figures are better than the Mattel figures. The big difference is articulation. Mattel?s Cassandra Cain Batgirl will be better articulated than the DC Direct one.
We?ve seen four waves of DC SuperHeroes so far (2 Batman, 2 Superman). Look for this figure in the next wave (which will be Batman) which could hit pegs just before Christmas, but may not be seen until early next year.
For some reason I think that the mouth was open on Helena?s version of Batgirl, but I?m not sure. It would explain the stitching around the covered mouth area on Cassadra?s version. I?m sure Darknight will be along shortly to tell us all.

Helena had the stitched mouth, so Batman couldn't figure out who she was I think. Darknight does seem to know everything!! Lol!!
It looks like they are releasing a new wave every month.

Actually, I'll do it. Helena's was covered.
I remember because she was in one of the first Comic books I'd gotten in a long time and I was wondering why Barbara was in a wheelchair and why there was a new Batgirl with a mask which covered her whole face.

Ok, I figured it out. At first Helena's costume didn't have her face covered, then she changed it. I think Batman pretty much took Helena's Batgirl costume from her, and gave it to Cass, because Helena failed him. And this all went on during No Man's Land.
Here's a pic of Helena as Batgirl. I thought it was Cass, but that was on one of the covers when Helena was Batgirl I believe. So yeah, it's exactly the same.

Just because I feel obligated to post since my name seemed to come up alot. Raschwurz (sorry if I misspelled it, I am too under-caffienated to go back and look) is right Helena had the stitches around the mouth as well.
Here is one of the best images I know of of Helena in the suit (click for bigger version):

I wonder if someone could make a case that the DC Direct figure is actually Helena not Cassie since in Cassie's first appearance she did not wear a suit. Then it would be more like the first appearance Nightwing figure where the longstanding character has gone through a name change. Of course, the packaging for the Batgirl figure says it is Cassie Cain.

OK, here?s some related questions while we wait.
Where did that Batgirl suit come from? Did Barbara have it when she was gunned down? For some reason I don?t think so, I thought it was Cassandra?s suit from the start. Was Cassandra in the suit before Helena? Why did Helena put on the suit in the first place, when she was already the Huntress?

So are these in Wave 3 or 4? I already found Robin, Batman and Freeze in Michigan. I definitely want to buy the Barbara as Batgirl for my collection.

I am going to assume that you are asking these questions because you don't know, and not for some trivia game. If you are asking for a trivia thing, I am sorry for ruining it.
That Batgirl suit was made by Helena Bertinelli, the Huntress. Barbara Gordon never wore it. After the Cataclysm, Batman left Gotham after the city was closed and declared a No Man's Land. Huntress saw that she was ineffective in striking fear in those that would prey on the innocent. What was left of the city still needed a Batman, so she stepped in as a replacement. She found that looking like Batman made her crimefighting much more effective, so up until around here she operated as Batgirl. The mantle was then passed to Cassandra Cain, the daughter of David Cain.

I wish Helena would have gotten to be Batgirl longer. I like her as Huntress, but she seems better for the job as Batgirl.

Unfortunatly, this figure will probably be in Wave 5; Mattel recently announced that Wave 4 has been changed to a Superman wave.

Wave 4 is already out. Wave 5 should be out next month judging on when the last 2 were released.

Wow, Four is already out; they only just anounced the change of figures.
And what are series 5's figures going to be? I'm guessing Cass, Two-face, Catwoman, and a Batman variant.

Wave 5 should be new figures of Batgirl (Barbara Gordon), Batgirl (Cassandra Cain), Two-Face and a repainted The Joker (Quick Fire from the comic style). It may hit some stores during the Holiday Season.

I think in the wave with the two Batgirls they should have made a Huntress figure as well. They could even do a Black Canary figure since she was with the Birds of Prey before going to the Justice League. A Lady Shiva, Harley Quinn, or a Poison Ivy doll would be cool as well. They could call it the ladies of Batman. They could even do Catwoman and Talia. Now that I would like to see. |
