Now this is neat, and I wondered when they would come out with it.. and for 40 bucks, all five figures can be yours!

That's so cool! I'd get it and never open it since I already have all those figures. They're all the best representation of Batman for their toylines. |

That's pretty cool. I like the way they found a use for the scales being all over the place, too

As we say...
Mattel is a day late and a dollar short
on this item...
I'll pass on this one...
Bring out some real good repacks, like
lets see...
The Batman animated set of RA's, Talia,
Commissioner Gordan, Batgirl, Alfred and
Batman/Bruce Wayne...
Call this set: "Papa Knows Best."...
Then..." I'll buy that for a dollar...":p

Nice, but why no exclusive repaints? What would compel any Batman Collector to get the same figures they already have?
The JLU Batman should have a lighter shade a gray to better match the other Batman figures. If you collect 3 Packs, you already have plenty of this exact same figure, so why not change the color to make it better.
Zipline Batman could have had the yellow oval and rubber cape of the SDCC Batman. At the very least Mattel could have put in Bat Signal Batman (and toss in the Bat Signal too) rather than ANOTHER Zipline Batman.
The Batman could have had a retro Bat logo, just to be different from all the others.
The Animated Batman should have been the one from The Rize of Sin Tzu video game or the Batman used in the two Pack with The Joker and not the silver one.
All Mattel did was make a Toys R Us Exclusive set of figures that are exactly the same as the ones most collectors and kids already have, which is not to bright as most parents won’t buy this set for kids. Collectors might buy one for the novelty of it and if I get one I’ll keep it MIB because I already have plenty of loose versions of those figures. However, I don’t see the point.

It's a neat idea for a set, but I agree with Flabat that they really should have done a bit of extra work to make it really special. I really like the idea of including at least the Batsignal from the overseas figure. We have superarticulated Batman figures now, but a lot of people missed out on that very cool (working!) accessory. The Begins figure should have been the special deluxe version with additional articulation and the higher quality cape. But this is Mattel, so we get a completely extraneous set that required no real work or ingenuity whatsoever. I guess it'll at least make a decent MIB display piece for people who don't mind paying too much for a set of figures they already own.
I know it seems like I'm down on Mattel a lot, but I just hate seeing them fall flat constantly, when this license is bursting with potential, and I know they can do so much better than this. :|

I know they don’t have the Batman Beyond license, but I think any “Ultimate” set should include a Batman Beyond figure as well. Especially since the Season Sets are out on DVD now.
As far as that goes a Super Powers Batman would have been really cool too. After all, the Super Powers Batman is original action figure in the small-scale plastic format. It would have been great to see them pay homage to that figure in some way.

The Batman Beyond issue is one thing I'm not clear on. Mattel has the Batman master license, but I'm not sure if Batman Beyond is included in that or not. It's one of the things Mattel has not commented on, to my knowledge.
It would have been awesome if they had included a Super Powers-style Batman in this set, too. But you know Mattel, why create a new mold when you can just keep reusing the same ones?

They have the limited comic, The Batman, Animated Batman, JLU (in which Batman Beyond was part of) Batman Begins, and they have the Dark Knight. All other Batman lines have to be bought.

That's a pretty neat set, but I'd have to agree with just about everyone else's comments. Not only are these just re-releases with nothing unique about them, most of these exact figures have been released several times in the past, and now we're just sick of seeing them. I can't recall Hasbro ever being quite that bad with re-releasing the exact same figures over and over.
Maybe some sort of special pearl finish paint job would've been neat, kinda like those Justice League NASCAR figures a few years back but better - and of course some improvements like FlaBat suggested. There aren't really any TRU's out here anyway, so I won't be seeing it.

Word. They coulda repainted the S3 one (though many people have already). I can see what they are going for, however. The first versions of the character in the format (its JLU, not JL). kudos, mattel. |

Mattel sucks, plain and simple. They are doing exactly what WB was ing about Kenner was doing. Mattel has screwed up ever toy license they have.
Now, onto this item, I just saw this at my local TRUS, its actually a pretty nice display item, having all the Mattel versions of their basic Batman fig in the correct colors. Also, they were only 29.99. |

Well I broke down and bought one of these. It’ll stay MIB as I think it will make a nice package display piece and I won’t have many MIB examples to display.
It was among a couple other action figures I bought this week and pushed my collection over the 2000 mark.
