You know, everyone stated that Joker's make-up runs... I always imagined it ran downward like he was in the rain, but It looks more smudged; almost as though he was submerged in liquid?

Batman Begins is a reboot of the Batman franchise. It's in no way connected to the Tim Burton/Joel Shumacher films. Christopher Nolan's Batman movies are in their own universe.
As for Nolan's Joker, from the pics I've seen, this is more realistic approach to how someone's face is covered with white. It looks better and creepier looking. |

I just noticed somethiing about the way the Batcave looks...
I will take a guess that in this movie Bruce and Alfred
take up residence in a Wayne Building in the city...
Just like he did in the comics in the early 70's...
Did anyone else notice that this is one hell
of a Bright Batman Movie???

These are pics so it'll probably look different on film.
At least I'm hoping so. |

most of the pics are indoors, so it makes sense that it's bright. but i think they made the lighting stronger for the pictures. it's probably darker in the movie.

Ok I hope this is in the right place-if not i apologize as this is my first post...The pictures above supplied by "Riddler" bring back some fond memories of the Neil Adams/Jim Aparo(RIP) /Dick Giordano era that I loved as a kid! The three pictures of Bale and Caine together look as though they are set in a large building such as a skyscraper- especially the "Batcave" photos which to me resemble a large building's basement. Don't forget that during that era of the comics Wayne had an elevator through the building from his penthouse ontop of Wayne Tower that led to the Batcave that was set in the basement! He also had a tunnel from the Wayne Foundation basement that led to the original Batcave at Wayne Manor. With the water mains in Nolan's version of Batman converging under Wayne Tower, it makes sence that the sewer mains and storm drains under the building would be huge- THERE is your hanger for the Batboat!!!
This is all great stuff- but I wonder about the Joker- it looks as though he is wearing makeup to appear white. That is sacrilege. But we will see won't we? |

kryptosdaddy - Welcome! And yep.. this is the right place and WOW.. I never thought about that idea for the Batboat.. but yes.. that makes perfect sense!
As for the pictures.. it has been said that Wayne is currently living in the Penthouse because Wayne Manor is being rebuilt. You can see pictures here:

The Batboat thing could work. And I think the Batcomputer is a plus.
Anywho, I've been subtly hinting at this for a while, and y'all are free call me a crazy conspiricy theorist...
But ever since I heard the Joker would be wearing make-up I figured he'd be wearing the make-up during his chemical bath; which would cause it to burn onto his face, instead of just concidentally making him look like a clown.
Now the new image of his "Washed out make-up" looks as though he took a dive into a liquid; so I'm pretty sure that's post bath Joker.
Now the question on my mind is whether or not the bath bleaches the rest of his skin white, or just burns the white make-up onto his face.

I was thinking the same thing about whatever chemical he falls into burning the makeup into his skin as well- but the Joker was bleached completly white and his hair dyed green after Batman knocks him (then THe Red Hood) into some chemical vat- you know like peroxide? LOL
The first time I saw Batman Begins and that scene at the end where Gordon gives Batman that evidence bag that held the Joker's card I flipped- if they follow the orgin of the Joker as closley as they did Batman's then the meeting between Batman and the Red Hood or whatever he was had already happened before the end of the first movie...whatever happens I think we can trust Nolan's judgement, I loved the horror undertones of Batman Begins, and the Joker is perfect for this type of film. |

i was thinking the same thing about how if he was givin a "joker card" this would mean he is already in fact the joker...than i tought to myself well nolan made some changes in Begins, like Ras being Bruces main mentor, maybe the joker in TDK doesnt go by red hood and infact he goes by "The Joker" and than falls in and finaly has the "look" to his name.

He already has the look because he wears make-up and clown masks during his crimes; it's just the look becomes a little bit more perminant after the chem bath.

adding Ras' as Bruce Waynes mentor was funny and a bit belivable- remember when he introduced himself to Bruce in the cell? He called himself Henry Dukard. In the comics Dukard was the man that taught Bruce Savate and helped hone his detective skills- this was after "The Dark Knight Returns" and for the life of me I can't find an issue that I have covering this-I'll get somemore background on this later.
I hope that following films cover some of the education of Batman beyond day to day crimefighting- like his love of chemistry and they should show the fact that first and foremost Batman is a detective.

From reading and watching interviews, I think that because Nolan and Goyer were so focused on establishing how Bruce Wayne became Batman, they barely had time to show other aspects of the character, i.e. being a detective and a scientist (chemist , engineer, technician, etc.). I think that TDK will address those issues. |
