PLOT:
Kenneth Irons 'hires' Lex Luthor to gain The Witchblade from its current bearer, Sara Pezinni. As a result, Sara is badly wounded, forced into flight in Gotham City, and goes to Barbara Gordon for help. The two had met as children when their fathers, both policemen, had met at a cop seminar in New York City. Barbara,as Oracle, gets the badly wounded Sara teleported to the JLA's Watchtower on the moon for emergency medical treatment.
At the Watchtower the Martian Manhunter attempts to probe the unconscious Sara's mind and undergoes the experiences of Sara first gaining The Witchblade and of the events that led her to Gotham City. The JLA searches for answers to the puzzles raised by Sara and The Witchblade. Meanwhile Barbara Gordon, the Huntress, and Wonder Woman, one after another, are taken over by The Witchblade as it seeks the most powerful host (only females can bear The Witchblade). Sara Pezinni regains consciousness, confronts The Witchblade (now being worn by Wonder Woman) and successfully comands it to return to her. When Superman suggests that the JLA might find some way to help Sara, the Martian Manhunter blocks the idea by saying that The Witchblade is a burden Sara must bear alone.
