Meanwhile Hush is back in Gotham and has purchased an old condemned hospital. Staffing his hospital with drugged up Gotham citizens, Thomas Elliot begins performing facial surgery on himself while making preparations for the return of a mysterious 'mentor' from days past.

After reflecting upon his past run-ins with the Batman as well as his relationship with his badly injured (and similarly bandaged) mother following the accident he staged, Hush makes his way to Dr. Aesop's hide-out. After arriving on the scene, Hush puts two bullets into Aesop's chest and promises Bruce that as long as he's around, Batman only has one nemesis to watch out for (no doubt putting him at odds with the Black Glove).

After staking his claim, Hush disappears into the night leaving Batman wondering once again when his old friend will strike and how.
