PLOT:
Weeks after the gang war ended, Batman began to find OD'ed junkies. Without drugs for so long, they took too much when they began to reappear on the streets. He beat up a dealer and got some names and locations. The drugs seemed to bear the signatures of multiple gangs in the city. He led the police to a cutting ring where he was astonished that it was Yakuza and not Triad or Escabedo.

Leaving, Batman realized he'd become to dependent on Oracle, who'd recently left Gotham City. Onyx had taken over for Orpheus, who'd become somewhat a martyr. Robin and Batgirl also left town. Alfred was tending to Dick, who was still recovering from his gunshot wound. Batman was back to being alone. He tracked down Mad Hatter. Killer Croc and Alexandra Kosov were at his side. Batman saved their hostage after learning Black Mask was their boss. He caught Catwoman up on what was going on.

REVIEW:
"Alone at Night"
Anderson Gabrych deals with the enormous amount of fallout from War Games. For those that do not pick up the sidekick books he does a great job of telling what will be happening to those characters. Batman is now returned to his roots fighting crime alone with no sidekicks or police liaisons. It will be a trying time for the Dark Knight because of the major loss of resources, but he will get by. Black Mask’s sheer arrogance of coming right out to Batman shows how powerful he truly is. The coming months will bring some great conflicts between he and Batman. Pete Woods draws some great action scenes in this issue. He really brings Batman to be a creature of the night to strike fear in the hearts of criminals.

“In the Dark, a Story from the City of Crime”
I really did not care too much for this story. It had very little in the way of plot just a couple of things happen. Since this is the prelude to the next arc in the comic, I am hoping that this story will be expounded on. Hopefully there is an overall scope to Lapham’s story. The art was not the best. Some artists can maintain detail in a dark environment, this story seemed to lack that detail.
