PLOT:
Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson attend the screening of a new musical. During the show, optical effects expert Garfield Lynns makes the stage appear to catch fire. In the panic his men rob the rich movie goers. Batman and Robin capture one of the crooks, who is about to name Lynns as the gang boss. Lynns shoots the crook, then flees.

Batman and Robin pursue Lynns in the Batmobile. After Lynns crashes, though injured he escapes into the woods. Batman and Robin are thrown off the trail by the light of a firefly. Lynns decides to use the firefly as his inspiration for future crimes.

Dressed in an elaborate costume with light altering gadgets, Lynns begins a series of crimes as the Firefly. Batman and Robin tangle with him several times. Firefly finally captures them inside a lighthouse, but Batman signals for help using the beacon. Batman then uses his own light effects to blind the gang and apprehend them.

NOTE:
The Firefly returns in First Issue Special #7 against the Creeper, so this story must take place on Earth-1.

A different Firefly, Ted Carson, appears in the third story of Batman #126.
