PLOT:
Eclipso and Mary Marvel continue to do battle in outer space while the Challengers finally find Ray Palmer on Earth-51. After institutionalizing his ex-wife at the end of Identity Crisis, Ray Palmer shrunk down to sub-atomic level and traveled the multiverse. It was here on Earth 51, a seemingly near perfect world where he witnessed the death of his Earth-51 counterpart.

Upon investigating the project his counterpart was working on before he died, Ray Palmer learns of the looming crisis and begins to pick up where his counterpart left off. Ray assumes the identity of Earth-51's Ray Palmer on this near perfect world while he seeks treatment for his nightmares from the overweight genial Dr. Zatanna. It seems as though after five years of crime fighting, the superheroes of this world were able to completely eradicate crime from their universe before hanging up their capes and cowls. Except Batman (Bruce Wayne), that is. He remains vigilant and appears to have been hospitalized for his obsession.

The Challengers finally meet up with Ray, their quest is finally complete. But before anyone can get too comfortable, Bob the Monitor unholsters his gun and blasts Ray Palmer! Have the challengers been betrayed?! Is there anyone who can stop the Final Crisis now?

NOTE:
Special end of issue story entitled, "The Origin of Dr. Light"
