While Luthor is trying unsuccessfully to win the government contract from Senator Crabtree, Batman breaks into the LexCorp towers in Metropolis to learn what Luthor knows about Wayne Tech. The Senator tells Lex the decision will have to wait. Lex refuses to wait. The next day, the Senator is arrested for conspiracy of murder by paying Batman to kill a prostitute.
After the Senator resigns to battle the murder charge, it is announced that the defense contract has been given to LexCorp. Later, Batman visits James Gordon to let him know that Luthor had the prostitute killed and then framed the Senator. Batman tells Gordon to go after Luthor. Meanwhile, Luthor's attempts to locate Batman fail, so he decides to use a mechanical bat.
