PLOT:
Gliding down from the heavens above with the use of their para-capes, the all new Dynamic Duo land on the rooftop of police headquarters. Mr. Toad isn't talking and the Commissioner is looking to the Dark Knight for some help. Gordon is no fool. He immediately realizes that there's been a changing of the guard. But while the masked vigilantes identities may have changed - they're still somehow familiar to him. Especially the boy, he notes, whom he recognizes from somewhere...

While the the heroes are descending through the shadowy stairways leading down from the roof of Gotham Central, the extreme circus troupe Le Cirque D'Etrange have already stormed through the front door of the precinct. Both parties are determined to get to the Toad before the other and naturally a battle ensues in the bull-pen. The impetuous and young Robin jumps from one fight to another while his partner Batman races behind him trying desperately to save him from becoming an unsightly red and gold smear on the walls of the squad room. By the time Dick has contained the flaming man Phosphorus Rex and the conjoined-martial artists Siam he finds Damian outside the holding cells with the gargantuan Big Top. Despite the fact that Big Top is clearly subdued and no longer a threat, Damian continues hammering away at the crook demanding information. Guns drawn, Gordon and his men demand that the boy stop but it isn't until Dick steps in and physically restrains Damian that the violence is stopped. When the smoke clears, the police have three new criminals in custody, one with a broken thumb and a severe concussion - but no further information. And what's worse, they find Mr. Toad dead in his cell - an ominous domino placed in his empty lifeless hand.

Batman and Robin retreat to the Bunker, the mission an abject failure. Four cops were killed, six seriously injured including a man whom Dick had personally known from his time on the Blüdhaven beat. They know Toad and his gang had been dealing mind control drugs with Russian people traffickers, but that's it. They're no closer to stopping what they know to be a forthcoming attack on the city by Professor Pyg. Fuming, Dick Grayson lashes out at the boy. Going far beyond typical means of intimidation, Damian's behavior flies in the face of everything that Batman and Robin have stood for. What's worse the show of violence could have well jeopardized what is already a precarious bond of trust between Gordon and the new team. But Damian doesn't care. And what's more he's not about to take orders or a dressing down from a pale imitation of his father. He rips the 'R' patch from his breast, tosses it on the floor and leaves.

Defeated, Dick slumps down onto the stairs of the bunker, eyes cast downward. Could the sadistic ten year old boy have a point? This isn't his gig. He feels like a fraud and what's worse, he fears that everyone else feels the same way. Gotham City doesn't need one more "psycho Batman impersonator."

As always, Alfred Pennyworth listens to Dick's laments and chimes in with his own inspirational speech. He encourages Dick to view his role as Batman not as a memorial but as performance piece. He also reminds Dick that while he may have Bruce's blood pumping through his veins, Damian still spent the first ten years of his life surrounded by killers and madmen. He needs patience and guidance to show him the way to lead a nobler life. His spirits re-charged, Dick sets out on the all new Bat-Quad 4x4 vehicle in search of Damian, unaware that already the boy has found himself another boat load of trouble.

He's traced one of Big Top's cane weapons back to the derelict amusement park where the Circus of Strange has taken up residence. Once inside the gates he's immediately drawn to the girl Sasha. The Dollotron mask has been fused to her face but the tears still roll down her artificial cheeks. But before he can free Sasha, Damian is surrounded by dozens of crazed Dollotrons that throw him to the ground and begin beating him to a pulp as Professor Pyg steps out from the shadows to gloat. The Boy Wonder will get a front row seat to Pyg's newest round of slaughter as hordes of Dollotrons begin their march through Gotham City with bombs strapped to their chests detonating at random.
