PLOT:
Across all of Gotham City, residents are witnessing Batman's return to action after a year away. Suddenly however their cheers of triumph are replaced with shocked gasps as the Bat-Wing circles the Vanguard Building and suddenly explodes!

Thankfully the Caped Crusader and the Boy Wonder are safe. Having survived the explosion, Batman and Robin split up to track down Ivy. The green-thumbed goddess manages to get the drop on Batman however and strings him up by the vines of one of her killer plants as she explains to him her motive. The business men present (one representing Wayne Enterprises) are all guilty of what Ivy deems corporate villainy against nature.

Threatening to kill them all, Ivy is stopped short as Batman releases some high-strength defoliant from his utility belt. Having sent Robin off to prepare to disseminate more weed-killer through the sprinkler system, Batman forces Ivy's hand and the villainess surrenders.

Returning to Gordon's office afterwards, Batman confesses his sinking suspicion that this night is far from over. Meanwhile, across town another old foe of Batman's, Magpie, turns up dead with two familiar bullet holes in her head.
