PLOT:
One thing is certain in both of Stephanie Brown's dual worlds - the first couple nights are always the hardest. And a sudden black-out across Gotham certainly isn't helping matters. Fortunately Steph has her new high-tech bat-suit to help her through the rough spots. Just about every piece of biometric data is uplinked directly to Oracle's servers back in the Bat-Cave. And her night-vision lenses certainly come in handy while tracking down a skel who decided to snatch her mother's purse from out front of a local diner. Luckily Steph is able to return the bag without having to confront her mother face to face (for now at least).

Meanwhile, across the city, people are dealing with the black out in their own unique ways. Or, in the case of Wendy Harris, not dealing with the black out at all. Too stubborn (or perhaps too ashamed) to return to the Teen Titans, Wendy snuck into Dr. Thompkins clinic for another round of intense workouts. Her path lit only by candle light, Wendy continues to push her body to extremes in hopes of regaining her ability to walk. Having responded to the clinic's alarm, Barabara watches from a distance, perhaps seeing more and more of herself in the persistent young girl. She decides to take the initiative to reach out to Wendy and offer her help. Whether she accepts it or not is completely up to her.

Back at the station house, Nick Gage and Jim Gordon are completely in the dark (both figuratively and literally) as it pertains to this black out. Having gone green at the behest of Commissioner Gordon's daugther, the GCPD headquarters no longer has any gas generator back-up electricity. Luckily a call comes through to get them out of the office. It seems a body was discovered in the middle of Monarch field. The field (not quite so eco-friendly) has a generator to power the gigantic stadium lights that shine down on the man's charred corpse. The vic is a former DWP worker and it appears that he was flung into one of the giant lights above before crashing down somewhere in center-field. The only question remains is who threw him?!

Soon enough a giant orb of electrical energy begins to emanate from the Gotham DWP power station. Gordon, Gage and Batgirl all converge at the station and find the source of the blackout there. Livewire has made her way from Metropolis over to Gotham for a quick bite to eat. Too bad for her Batgirl has something to say about it. Now, normally, Steph wouldn't stand a chance against one of Superman's foes. But as it would turn out, another one of her new suits handy advantages is the fact that it's fully insulated against electrical charge. Which makes it easy for Steph to make short work of the super-charged baddie.

Now, all she needs to do is make it back in time to sneak into bed and catch a few zzz's before her mom comes in to wake her up. Sure she didn't get any of her homework done, but oh well. As they say, the first couple nights are always the hardest.
