Originally a noted artist, the man called quilt was also the leader of a crime syndicate, using his paintings to give secret clues to his henchmen world wide. Quilt was shot by a rival gang member who left him blind. In an attempt to regain sight, Quilt allowed scientists to attach his optic nerves to a helmet. Although Quilt could now see, everything he saw was in bright, vivid colors. Enraged, Crazy-Quilt, as he called himself, committed a number of color related crimes until he was stopped by the Boy Commandos. He escaped from prison years later and added a hypnotic effect to his helmet, allowing him to mind control others. This time, he was defeated by Robin I. Upon his release, a prison doctor told Quilt that in a matter of weeks, he'd be blind permanently. Desperate, he stole an experimental laser and Doctor Norman Dexter. After his sight was completely returned, Batman and Robin rushed in the operating room and ultimately blinded him again. Disgruntled, Crazy Quilt managed to see through 3 lenses on top of his helmet. He tracked down Robin II and beat him mercilessly, not realising that this was a different Robin. After serving another long prison sentence, Crazy Quilt became a frequent patron of the House. Recently a woman has taken the title of Crazy Quilt and whether the original is alive is unknown.
