In 2003 Mattel won the rights to Batman and right away came out with their version of the Animated Batman. It was to tide the fans over until they came out with their other lines. This line brought us a few new sculpts and even some new characters never made by Hasbro. The figures looked more like off The Animated Series than the previous line, and were what the fans wanted.
