BLACK CANARY/THE JOKER/BATMAN THREE PACK REVIEW

Action Figures & Dolls

Action Figures & Dolls The Joker has been one of the most anticipated figures since the original Justice League line came out back in 2003. Mattel did a Joker figure that was based on The New Batman Adventure look, however the look that was first seen in “Batman Beyond: Return Of The Joker” then later in Justice League was the look that fans wanted in a figure.

Black Canary is another figure that has been a fan favorite. She was first released in a three pack with Green Arrow and Superman. It was a Target exclusive, and a hard one to find at that.

CHARACTER HISTORY:

BLACK CANARY:
Action Figures & Dolls Black Canary's first prominent appearance was in the the episode The Cat and the Canary where she asks Green Arrow for help in stopping Wildcat's addiction to cagefights. At first, Canary challenges Wildcat to a fight. If she wins he has to agree to stop fighting in cagefights, and if she loses she will leave him alone. However, right before the fight, Green Arrow knocks her out with a gas arrow. He takes her place and fights Wildcat until he uses a metabollic stunner to make him belive that he had killed him. After recovering, Canary thanked him and this act won her affection.

BATMAN:
Batman and the five other members reformed the Justice League with a new Watchtower and an expanded roster of heroes. Batman was instrumental in recruiting Green Arrow into the league, who along with other Human league members, helped keep the league from becoming an autonomous Metahuman army. He also succeeded in demonstrating to Amanda Waller that Cadmus was being used as a tool to further Lex Luthor's personal agenda to discredit and destroy the Justice League. Action Figures & Dolls

JOKER:
PACKAGING:
Joker conned his way into Lex Luthor's Injustice Gang by providing his expertise on Batman. After the Justice League was successfully destroyed, the Joker was promised Batman. However, the League survived and went after the Gang. Joker cut his losses and attempted to kill Batman but it seemed Batman was manipulating the situation the whole time.

The Joker tried to form a metahuman gang once more. He discovered and entered a secret government compound dubbed Section 12. At the time, it was under the supervision of the Cadmus Project, a federal initiative to procure defenses against the Justice League. Joker freed their captives and fashioned them as a card deck hand, the Royal Flush Gang. He then purchased air time on several networks under a false moniker and broadcasted a live feed of Las Vegas. Action Figures & Dolls The Joker secretly planted several dozen high explosives all over the city. The real plan was to use the powers of the Gang's fifth member, Ace. The bomb stunt was merely part of his plan to attract viewers throughout the world. Joker would then transmit Ace's thought waves and render everyone under a mass psychosis. Batman confronted the Joker alone. Batman managed to reveal to Ace that the Joker held onto a special headband used to nullify Ace's powers. Ace, in turn, used her power on Joker and temporarily incapacitated him.

ARTICULATION:
Batman has ten points of articulation: Neck (1); Shoulders (2); Elbows (2); Hips (2) & Knees (2). Black Canary and Joker have five points of articulation: Neck (1); Shoulders (2) & Hips (2).

I’ll probably say this more than ten times. Why can’t the other figures have more articulation? While limited articulation is nice for displaying, multiple articulations would be nice for play. Action Figures & Dolls

SCULPT:
The Joker is dead on. However, with the way his neck is, he’s looking down all the time. Perhaps if there was a ball joint in this neck, it wouldn’t be such a bad thing.

Black Canary is a repaint but not an outrageous one. The first time Canary was released, she looked just as she did the series. This time around she has her famed fish net stockings on. The only draw back is the bra for a shirt. Otherwise she’d match her comics’ counterpart great.

Batman, what can I say about this figure? He’s dead on and looks great with the rest of the team.

OVERALL:
The one thing I loke when you by a pack with a female figure is that you get the display stand, though with this one, I kinda miss the "DC" logo, but if it helps keep the cost down, I'm ok with it. Then again, I'd like to see stands will all of the figures, some simply won't stand. However, this is another must have for any collector, if not simply for the Joker. Now you could go with the Grodd six pack red hood and not display the hood, or put the hood on your old Mattel Joker, but honestly, I am glad to have picked this up, three great figures for ten bucks. You can’t beat that!
