Zatara (Young Justice)

To all appearances a simple stage magician, John Zatara actually had a gift for the use of true magic, and encouraged by Doctor Occult he used his magical abilities as a mystery man during the second world war period. He later met and married a woman named Sindella of the Homo Magi, and their daughter Zatanna received an inheritance of even greater power than Zatara's own.

• Sorcery: Zatara speaks his spells backward as a aid to concentrate. For example, saying "tegrof" would cause the target of the spell to forget something. The limits of Zatara's powers are unknown, and are far from concrete.

• Prestidigitation: Zatara is skilled in stage magic, performing simple illusions.

Zatara has appeared in a couple of different forms of media. He appeared in a flashback in an epidoes of Batman: The Animated Series as well as been mentioned several times on the Live Action show "Smallville."
